I'll agree that we have very dissimilar lifestyles. However, I don't know anyone that thinks that about the Eastcoasters (probably because I choose not to hang with closed-minded peeps). Myself especially, considering my father (the most wonderful man alive :D ) was born in..... Wyckoff, NEW JERSEY and attended Ramapo High. My amazing mother was born in Philly but grew up in New Jersey. I am the only Cali baby in our entire family.

I have met plenty of people where that stigma you are talking about has rung true ("cocky, ignorant, a$$holes"). We call them "guidos"... the loud, obnoxious, blatantly oversexed jerks that holla at my girls and I when we walk down the street. But then again, I am sure you have met some of our Valley Girl ditzes who have fake hair/noses/boobies/ATTITUDES and think they are God's gift to humanity.

These types can be found most anywhere, thats why I try not to generalize... even though some of the reputations certain areas receive tend to have a little bit of truth. You're always going to come in contact with someone that will blow that away though! Thats the beauty of diversity.

Yeah I mean we go out all the time...meet girls from europe a lot I guess...but not every weekend. it's hard, cuz my friends and I have all dated girls from europe, and we can't really get feelings cuz they have to leave soon. for example....this girl lisi (www.lisilimon.com) free plug..hahaha owns a modeling agency in barci, comes here, and we are all like family within a month. we always have to let them fly away. I can't say I've become so close with american girls....for whatever reason. I think because so many of them (european girls) are just like guys...in the good ways.....and totally girls in the good ways also. When I talk to an american girl at a bar I feel like I'm on a job interview......when I talk to someone from south america or europe...it's different, you don't feel like you have to impress them. Maybe I've just met a bunch of bad girls...but maybe not. You can just drink, do drugs if you wish...whatever, without being judged on anything.....dance, and enjoy life. The girls we meet from around here seem to be interested in our jobs and the cars we drive. I do very well with my job but I mean who cares? It doesn't define a person. ok I'm drunk...gotta go.......let me know if this paragraph made any sense at all.

People call NJ the armpit of Amerca. I can't handle the accents, or the attitudes. Then you have the bridge and tunnel crowd. Ugh. Not my scene. I could go on, but there's no reason on an Ibiza message board. I think the tshirt link above speaks volumes about NJ's reputation. And your outbursts and attitude from this thread only confirms and compounds my negative opinions. Seeing your handle, I can only roll my eyes and say "I'm not surprised."

(And I am east coast. I moved to Ibiza from Boston. And I was raised in the west so I know both sides. The prejudices about NJ are much stronger on the east coast.)

This is because many Europeans have different priorities than we do in The States. They seem to be more about having fun, enjoying life, valuing family and friends, what kind of person you are etc. rather than being all about social status and what kind of watch you are wearing. Yes, this may seem like somewhat of a generalization, but it has been my experience while visiting Europe and meeting the wonderful people there. Came in contact with plenty of fashion-forward gold diggers, nose in air, tooling around in their ferraris as well... but most of what I experienced there seemed to be much lighter than this.

I remember the first time I ever visited another country... It was Barcelona. First thing I noticed was that so many people seemed to have THE SAME CAR... a simple sedan or boxy two-door, and no one thinks any different. So different from the plethora of pricey sports cars and SUV's parading around my city. I also noticed all the groups of people walking around the streets laughing and talking, saying hi and smiling as I walked past. It was awesome and refreshing.

I don't mean to discount our Americans in any way shape or form by anything I've said, just so everyone is aware... I have immense respect for my place of birth and there are plenty of top notch folks out here.

Tiffany... also uncalled for, especially after I mentioned that my beloved father comes from Jersey. I agree that jerseyboy's outbursts weren't acceptable as well, but I at least give him credit for recognizing it. Lets keep on with the discussion and nix the cutting remarks... I want to hear everyone's opinion without distraction.

even tho her and J technically live in New Jersey, they are as passionate about house music than anyone ive met in europe. theyre in ibiza at the moment with the rest of the "family".
