London Restaurants

Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant in London for this weekend?

Needs to be reasonably south or central, money isn't that much of an issue, although I will be treating someone (to make up for last weekends er, no-show!) and would like to give the impression a lot of effort has gone into choosing somewhere!

Fire away...

(oh, and if anyones out, let me know if there's any good do's on for later ;) )

Do you want somewhere fancy Dan?? My current faves are The Worsley and Langans on Picadilly, both really nice but without being ott or pretentious.

Zilli in Soho and Zilli Fish Too are both nice and would look like you made effort (on the assumption that you both like fish).

www.toptable.co.uk is my fave site for restaurants and a lot of them you can book online too.

how about Oxo Tower? or my fave - Hakkassan which is very posh Chinese in a very nice setting indeed - near tottenham court road...very cool restaurant.

See what you did there

Freudian slip 8O 8O 8O

I was more talking about the phrase to describe the average Chelsea player, as in 'did you see Lampard's suit? Bit of a fancy Dan, isn't he?'.

But there you go...Dan and Barbie sitting in a tree, K..I...S...S..I etc

Babs suggestion of the Wolseley is a good one. Very central....on Picadilly. Really nice.

If you wanted something a little more romantic, try Andrew Edmunds. Not many people know about this place but its a small cosy little restaurant on Lexington St (in Soho). Quite hard to find. Has been in the Hardens Guide Top ten for the last two years. Quite reasonably priced too. Could be hard to get a table.

Also, I think you cant beat Nobu for a quality meal. Is expensive though.

Another suggestion would be Assagi, an Italian restaurant in Knightsbridge

Cheers for everyones reply, and it will be noted for next time I do something wrong!

As it happens, we went to Floridita, a Cuban restaurant by Terrance Conran with authentic cuban musicians and dancers.

Was lovely, and more than a restaurant, would be more than happy to recoomend it for a night out, and not just a meal. (It's open til 3, tho we left to go Pacha).

Great cocktails too! (not the cheapest place tho!)

Thanks once again, and Sarah, I'm very flattered  ;)
