London estate agents

Where are the best websites to look for property in London? Not moving quite yet, but looking around for prices (very expensive, I know).

Cheers Dexx! I've been to London loads, but still phased by which areas I should be looking at. I stayed in Islington a couple of months back and liked the vibe there, but it mainly seems to be flats and I'm mainly looking at a house as I need a garden now!

Any tips on where's good to look?

it depends on your budget clara

for a house with a garden under 300,000 you are gonna have to look outside (tube) zone 3.

i hear Ealing is pretty good

you will find plenty of garden flats in north london (nw1/3/5 n 7/19 etc)

Clara virtually all estate agents use www.rightmove.co.uk to advertise properties as well as their own websites - I can personally recommend a lovely agent in Hampton Hill

Don't know what kind of budget you're looking at as that will effect your choice of location as areas vary so much in price - we moved a few months ago and in our area 2 bedroomed houses were going for £350K upwards.

for gods sake don't use Foxtons.....we used Rightmove as mentioned above. You still gonna watch City if you live down here then?? :)

Findaproperty and hometrack are really good for checking out prices...find an area that suits your budget and marry it up with the place you socialise in.

...preferably get a place ON the park/river/canal because if it ain't a couple of steps away, you won't make the pilgrimage on a regular basis.

East London really is your best bet because:
1. Bethnal Green is on the central line - a few stops from TCR
2. It's on viccy park and canal
3. It's right next to Shoreditch - by far the bestest place for going out
4. Olympics are not far away so your investment is bound to benefit from the area growth
5. It's relatively cheap still

but...if you want a house with a garden forget the whole idea and move to the back of beyond. If you think you can cope with this then fine, but if it's your first time living in London you need to be as close to zone 1 as possible. ;)

You forgot to mention that you might rub shoulders with those lovely people in Albert square....

The worse thing is my sis is in the process of selling and buying at the moment up north - she's got her eye on this 6 bedroom, 3 floored, 4 bathroomed funk off detached place with huge garden etc and it's going to cost the same as mine and Tom's little 2 bedroomed house

But just think of the size of the place you'll get when you sell up and move back to Scunnie! ;)

8O  I think I'd rather live in a tent in the middle of Regents Park than move back there

 She's actually venturing out of Crowle to the heady heights of Epworth

Epworth is a sprawling metropolis...it has a leisure centre and a rectory... You must be secretly jealous.

It is unbelievable what you get for your money up north though.

I know, I felt really grown-up that me and Tom moved from a flat to a house and then I've got my little sis moving into a palace  She actually said to me 'if you want you can stay at mine at Christmas and you and Tom can have the top floor to yourself', you're lucky to get a bed at ours
