London clubs/pubs - 24hour opening

My local is staying open until 12 mon - fri, open until 1am on sat and 12 sun

We must have been lucky up here, thats our normal opening hours :D :P

Same here.

Most of our late bars open until 1:00/1:30 Friday/Saturday - not sure in the week?

clueless ministers, they reckon it'll cut all the hassle associated with binge drinking. its as if they expect the whole country's culture to change. the majority of pubs are just gonna have the same as what we have had for years, and it won't change people's behaviour in this country, if anything it will only make it worse. the cops are already bricking it cause they know its gonna mean more trouble. 12-1 closing time for pubs is fine, but beyond that its just getting a bit silly. besides, down south you have a much better system for later licenses in clubs. up here, most shut between 2:30 and 3:30 (if you are lucky)

Not sure what bars etc are staying open later up here.

Does the new law mean that all the clubs etc can stay open as log as they like?

just means they can sell alcohol for as long as they're open (i.e. past 3am when most clubs previously stopped serving)

I think you still need to apply for permission to stay open late (i.e. will locals object etc if you're in a residential area)

Southwark
The Ministry of Sound has been granted a 24-hour licence.

Camden
Only one venue has been granted a 24-hour licence: The End in Holborn.

Islington
Party on in Islington! Fabric and Meet in Charterhouse Street, Turnmills on Clerkenwell Road, and Aquarium on Old Street have all been granted 24-hour licences.

Kensington and Chelsea
Twenty-one 24-hour licences have been granted, with most going to hotels. The only bar to get a 24-hour licence is Vingt Quatre on Fulham Road.

Brent
Father Ted on Willesden Lane is the only pub to have applied for a 24-hour licence – the application is still pending

I was talking about local pub not bar.

Wouldn't know, don't 'do' pubs.

(apart from a lock-in a few weeks ago)

I still can't believe people thought 11pm closing time was normal all these years

Russians drink way more than Brits (and can get equally yobbish) and there's a lot of bars here that are 24 hours. If anything, I think it's less of a problem because people don't do the pre-11pm chug.

I thought they already had something bordering on one. I've always been able to get alcohol in there at any time.

Saying that, on Sunday mornings they serve spirits from 5am but only start serving beer from midday :?

You're not supposed to have spirits though, only they look less obvious
