London Club Listings

Are you asking as a promoter or a punter?

If the latter you won't find anything more extensive than RA. Not where London is concerned, anyho. I know from experience it's not so utilized in other UK cities.

I want to travel to London in spring for the first time - and of course include some clubbing. I realized that the "way" is quite different as the most clubs sell tickets for every regular events.
Nevertheless I read several reports of people who were rejected although they have a valid ticket (for example studio338).
How has expierences concerning this topic? Is that "normal" in London - or really exception cases?

those reports will mainly be about 338 tbh.Stupidly more n more parties are making out they want to "have the right people to create the right vibe" yet still full of dickheads so who knows whats going on at the door. facebook and RA are best for listings though

I would say 338 is the exception yeah. Usual rules would apply of course like try not to be f***ed, dress sensibly and try and mix your group up when possible - but doors in london are nowhere near as harsh as Berlin say. If you have a ticket and you're sober enough you'll get in.

hmm no such thing as dress sensibly really apart from dont wear a suit haha. ive always found if you have a little chat with ppl on door then theres no problem (except berlin of course!)(and ive never been to 338)

RA for Techno and House
Skiddle for everything else

Anybody know of any other sites that lists London shows other Residents Advisor?

Definitely RA for listings. Tickets in advanced will work out best, and I do hate the way this has gone now. Many promoters sell first/second batch tickets before releasing line ups! A lot of places you will be able to pay on door, certainly for the clubs. Ministry, Fabric etc.

Studio338 seems to be the big stand out with their unwritten door policy. It is putting me off, especially given the location. Also heard the crowd can be a bit ropey, and the venue itself is a bit run down. Unless there is something you really want there, maybe look elsewhere if you have a short trip

Genuinely, it isn't "all that"…sound is pretty shit and crowd when I have been has been young and on the ropey side…I think this is why they have door controls in place, especially as it is south east london - matter used to suffer crowd wise as well. In my experience the lady on the door there just wants to mae sure you aren't completely f***ed and that you have half an idea of who is playing…its as simple as that…but like I say, it is by no means an amazing club - loads better in my opinion.

Not been but agree from what I hear. I think they rely on he Kent/Essex 18-22 crowd. Some of the day parties like Abode look good though..

That said I know people that have been turned away sober. Like 2 girls together, small group of males etc for literally no reason or explanation which puts me off the schlep out to Greenwich. I'm of the age now that nights out only happen every month or 2 to risk that kind of crap

Yes mate agree…prefer the smaller venues like corsica these days. Can usually get a sub £15 ticket as well!
