Following on from chewies thread.
I have just dumped HSBC after nearley 10 years because
a) they wont give me a proper switch card or cheque book even thou i have credit crads and stuff with other banks. So have to make do with a solo card even after asking if they can give me a swith and they said NO !!

b) Im pissed of with all there charges

have just switche to lloyds tsb just wondering if anybody had had any problems with them ??

I've had my main account with Lloyds TSB for ages and had no problems really. They do the usual stuff like overdraft charges etc but I seem to only get charged if I've got majorly over, and for a long period of time.

They do however have their call centre in India which can be really funking annoying when you need to speak to a specialist department because they're based in the UK, so you have to go through about 50 people in India before they'll actually transfer you to a UK branch!

Quick banking question:

I've been with the Clydesdale for abot 14 years now, and today received a letter saying I owed them £30 for just having an account with them....is this normal practice? Being charged to have an account with someone?

Secondly, I get charged about 30% if I go into my overdraft...what a joke!

Gonna threaten them tomorrow with my departure:evil:

I left Halifax a couple of years ago for charging me £36 for being overdrawn by £30 for a single day. Told them if they didn't remove the charge I would leave, I'll let you imagine how the conversation went but now i'm with Lloyds.
The same thing happened with them and they just asked me if I would like to extend the overdraft to avoid the problem.
Have been spot on upto now, no obvious attempts to add unnessecary charges that other banks seem so keen to enforce.

I left Lloyds because of there continuous charges that they constantly seemed to get wrong!

My advice re. lloyds is the scrutinise your statements as they will rip you off at some stage and beware of the 'gold service' account... this is just an excuse to add an extra charge to your account that will cost you £120 a year!

I'm now with Abbey... The jury is out but I don't have any overdraft with them and they pay ME interest for the credit in the account (not a great deal I add!) but it's still them giving my money rather than vica versa!

I have the gold service account, i was going to cancel it a little while ago but i discovered that i could make some use out of it. For the 10 a month i get phone insurance incase i loose it and i get holiday insurance for me and my partner and also get car breakdown cover even if im not the owner of the car, i can still call up and its paid for.

Im a good person to have around if you have a dodgy car :D
