Liverpool V Chelsea

If Man U get through (which I think they will) it's gonna be a logistics nightmare travelling in the NorthWest to Athens.

One of my mates doesn't use the Internet and asked me to check up on flights to Athens and i spent hours searching and no matter what route you travel it's all expensive, so what another mate of mine done was booked a weeks holiday in Crete for €299 in some dingy apartments and got a return flight from Heraklion to Athens for about €120 return so he got a good price indeed but has to take a weeks holiday and hasn't got a ticket but i suppose it's all about being there and all that.;)

What a bitter bas***d Mourinho is

Mourinho insists better team were knocked out

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho claimed the Blues were the better team on the night as his side crashed out of the Champions League on penalties to Liverpool.
Liverpool won the match on the night 1-0 thanks to Dan Agger's first-half strike which levelled the tie at 1-1. But with neither side able to break the deadlock after extra time, the Reds held their nerve to win 4-1 on penalties with Dirk Kuyt scoring the winning spot-kick. 'It is a moment when everybody has to be strong,' he told ITV. 'They (the Chelsea players) have a lot of reasons to be proud. They did a great run in the Champions League. 'We were the best team today, even against a team only playing for the Champions League. 'In extra-time we were the only team who tried to win, but football is like that and the penalty shoot-out is part of the game.' Mourinho also denied that his comments in the build-up to the game had provided a spur for Liverpool. He added: 'I respected Liverpool always in my words. I don't need to say more and today I think the best team was Chelsea.'

Chelsea the better team? Do me a favour!!!
Liverpool thoroughly deserved the win and indeed should've had it in the bag before the final whistle!!!

I want Mourinho to die. What a little bitch. LIIIIIIIIIVERPOOL!!! Totally outplaying Chelsea today and he says they were the better team. I really do hope he gets sacked.

Bring it on in Athens!!! WOO!!!

8O 8O 8O 8O Not sure I wish death on the guy, but he did behave like a child after the game. Have some self respect.

Well done Liverpool 8) . Chelsea had the better of the 1st leg, Liverpool the better of this leg.. over all I'd say Liverpool just pipped it.

Having said that, i dont agree with some comments about this game, it was pretty poor in terms of football (which is understandable considering what was at stake). Obviously the tight scoreline made it very exciting though.

I have a feeling tonight will be a more open game :D

Looks like the result could be about to be overshadowed by a tragedy.

Senior Chelsea officials are thought to have been on board a helicopter that went missing on its way from Liverpool to an airfield near Peterborough last night.

A re-run of Matthew Harding?

On the game and its immediate aftermath: Mourinho's post-match comments were pure, unadulterated sour grapes. It wasn't the most beautiful game of football ever but both sides tried to attack and, with Jermaine Pennant especially causing trouble on the right, Liverpool had more width than Chelsea. Kuyt was a little unlucky to be judged offside for that goal which would have wrapped things up before penalties. Mascherano was also impressive.

Given all the foreigners on the pitch, it was a classic English game - lots of high balls to the centre-forwards Drogba and Crouch, breakneck pace with little time for fancy passing. Passion and commitment made up for the dearth of flair - it was great to see both sides so determined to close attacks down and deny each other time and space. As a Dons fan, it sometimes reminded me of watching the Joe Kinnear-coached sides of the 1990s, featuring players like Robbie Earle, Efan Ekoku and Dean Holdsworth.

game was sh!t.
we should have won it in the 2nd half
i'd be gutted if i was a chelsea fan (on the lack of chances you made)
essien was, is awesome. absolute cruise for him at CB, must play midfield.
atmosphere was the best, rivalled only by the 05 semi.
everyone knows pepe reina is the peno king.

oh yeah, and i've booked up for athens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tue-thu (with a night in riga on the way back!8O 8)

I don't think I've seen or read about anyone who agrees with me and thought the game was actually top notch! Fiercely, evenly competed, with both teams going all out to settle the grudge match.

i think many agree with you to that end, me included. but purely in terms of quality, chances, etc............there was little appeal.

but physical, gritty, battle of wits, type games are just as enthralling no doubt.

Na, it was just a rich fan. No one from the club.
Sky News once again proving its journalistic superiority
