Two London rap stars for this weeks' poolside gigs...
Fuse ODG (real name Nana Richard Abiona) made his Ibiza debut this week. He was born in the UK but lived a few years in Ghana, which explains the African vibes in his music.
T.I.N.A. (an acronym for This Is New Africa) is the title of his first album released in 2014, from which we heard songs like "Azonto", "Antenna" or "Dangerous Love" that got everyone really pumped and bouncing. Highlight of the evening came with "Million Pound Girl", spiced up with the sexy dances of two ladies and a guy from the audience that he invited on stage. Aside from DJ Naija Boi, during the second half of the show he was accompanied by a proper dancer that surprised us with some amazing moves.
His afrobeats sound spreads happiness and I actually enjoyed it more than the headliner!
The rapper and actor Lethal Bizzle (Maxwell Ansah) has collaborated with many people including Stormzy (who, after opening for Dizzee Rascal last summer, has a monthly residency at W.A.R! this year), that mentions him as an inspiration and a mentor. More interestingly for those into rock music, he collaborated with Babyshambles and the brilliant Gallows.
After his appearance at W.A.R! last summer, the artist described as the most prolific, exciting rapper to emerge from the UK underground scene came back as a headliner and backed not only by a DJ but also by two drummers and MC Face on a couple of songs. Basically he sang his most popular singles (some of them will be part of his fourth album to be out soon), including "Rari Workout", "Playground", "Don't Go" (dedicated to the deceased music lawyer Richard Antwi), "Pow! (Forward)" and "Fester Skank".
He proved that he knows how to work the crowd, which roared with each song!
