Less Anthems being made?

compared to pre 2003? I dont think there will ever be anything on the level of es samba, lovestory, yeke yeke, space cowboy, etc. I mean Flash Dance and "Is Everything Cool", are killing Ibiza this summer, but I dont feel the songs, like the last few seasons. I guess Lola's theme came and went too quickly, unless there are more tunes to come.

Or am I just giving the names of good songs (as opposed to 'anthems')? I suppose I might be. I must say, it's a very uplifiting excercise!

But I heard all these tunes everywhere!

2002 was the best year for music by far!

Although I think we had a freak one last year for the mega-played-everywhere-all-the-time anthems

Little More love
Let the Sunshine In
etc
 
caned means over played, atmo, means at the moment, imho, means in my humble opinion. I never heard at night this year. You may hear it at a small bar or something. I feel that 2002 was the best year of the last 5. So many classics.
 
Thing about Love Story is you only get a tune like that every few years, it'll be a while yet before anything to compare with that comes out. Lola's Theme will probably come out as the tune of this season but with that one it's a case of it's great if you're in the mood, otherwise it can be a bit annoying, whereas Love Story still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up two years later. Rockin' Music was still killing Bora Bora when we left and it's nice to see Da Hype still getting the odd play. The best tunes for me were Just a Little More Love and that remix of Move Your Body but none of them will make you smell the suncream the way that Tim Deluxe drum fill does!
 
a lot of the older stuff mentioned (yeke yeke, etc) came out before the whole Miami WMC thing took off.

remember back in 1998 when Stardust - Music Sounds Better.... was played by a handful of heavyweight DJs (AVH, Danny T, Tong, etc) in Miami and was held back from everyone else until the summer?....so nobody was sick of it by the time Ibiza came around

now the big Miami tune (Lola's Theme this year) is played to death by the summer and it loses its appeal.

i agree with whoever said there will be another big tune breaking around the Radio 1 weekend...A Little More Love only really surfaced around that time last year.

the best anthems imo are the sleepers that have been around for a while and the hype builds up gradually...thinking of Knights of the Jaguar and Born Slippy here.
 
I guess i can safely say that this year's E Samba is Lola's Theme and Shake It is Rockin' Music 8)

And about this year's anthems - donno where have u all been, but there certainly are alot floating around!
 
btw, I just realized this years anthems so far can include, Skylark- That's more like it, and String of Life. If you have on sunglasses and those songs are on, just add a san miguel, or Vodka Limon and you are home..... :lol:

there a many tracks out there at the moment that you really can FEEL under your skin, for example:

....
and many many more.

I'm sure if you search for them, you surely will find many of these Anthems out there on Ibiza this year.
 
I didn't hear At Night once while I was there. You couldn't get away from Stupidisco though, but I didn't mind cos I'm not sick of it......... yet.
