Has anyone heard this on the news today how they are going to make Lemsip prescription drugs - possibly - because there has been an increase in people buying it and using some of the elements to make crystal meth? 8O
 
lemsip contains pseudoephedrine which is a basic component of crystal meth (aparently)

surely rather than making everyone with a cold have to go go the doctor, they could just change the active components in lemsip.

or maybe the should put the cocaine back into coca-cola.

Nope its real. They still used the coca leaf to flavour Coke but they refine it to take the cocaine part out of it now.

In the early 1900's they used cocaine as a cure for everything. It was even prescribed as a way to give up opium !
 
queen victoria swore by Vin Mariani, a cocaine based 'tonic wine' as a way to cure her menstural cramps.

In some parts of the US, they just put a limit on the amount of pseudoephedrine-containing cold medicine you can buy, and the pharmacies have to keep records.

Better idea than making them into prescription drugs :idea:

You'd think even the average Boots employee would think something is up when someone orders a case of cough syrup :lol:

Boots wouldn't even let me buy Night Nurse and Nytol at the same time the other week :roll:
