I'd say nearest equivelent is prob Brighton. I do like Leeds lots though, such a nice, vibrant city. 8)

Can't help you with Leeds.

(ex) UK Clubs which came close to the Ibiza vibe ....

Miss Moneypenny's @ Bonds, Birmingham: Pacha

Canal Club, Wolverhampton: Pacha again

Niche (in the very early days i.e. pre Speed Garage), Sheffield: DC10 (but dare i say better!)

Leeds' best venue for the Ibiza vibe is My House (1 Brick Street, near West Yorkshire Playhouse theatre). It has a lovely garden/terrace, 3 floors of smallish rooms and some of the best nights in the north residing there.

Every Saturday is Back To Basics (till 7am) and 2nd Friday of month is RudeNot2 ;)

There's a breaks/techno night on last friday of month, Studio another house night on 1st friday and a hard house night on the 3rd friday.

It's also open all day Sunday for the real hardcore.

A real quirky venue, a little of the beaten track/out of town and always has a quality atmosphere...

On a less-biased tip, you should check out Dirty Disco @ Northern Light, it has a fairly Ibiza-type crowd and Asylum/Technique are relaunching @ The Warehouse on Sept 30th, both very good nights, now joining forces. Shelter NYC party @ Mint (Aug 26) is also one to look out for, they've got Lord G and Frankie Feleciano on.

i live in leeds im going out to ibiza i dont find leeds that special ba prob space and oceana or mission but the rest are pants in my opinion

S2H sums the clubbing up pretty much, altho not without a vested interest in the success of MyHouse/Rude not 2.;)

Asylum, which as S2H said, is moving to warehouse and regularly has dc10-type guests, so you might wanna check there out for a smaller vibe...........many an ibiza face/ex-worker i have stumbled across in there. Jose de divina, ricardo villalobos, clive henry, locodice, etc, etc have all played in the last 6 months or so.

depends what you're into but gatecrasher's sister club, Discotheque, occassionally has the odd guest that may give you the ibicenco flava..........altho probably more on a glam/housey tip, Roger Sanchez, Joey Negro, Mousse T, type guests........they do Gatecrasher classics as well for trance addicts.

I like the cosmo vibe down there, and it's the only place in the UK I would go on holiday too.

(my reasons are rubbish)

Think Andi has pretty much shown you the places you can go to hear funky/electro house. To liken these places to anything in Ibiza is tricky, possibly the new terrace @ Space, you get the likes of David Guetta, Axwell & Ingrosso and some of the soulful house DJs on at Mission & Space (Leeds). I've no idea what some of music/DJs you get at Oceania, its a new place and not to my tastes.

Basically
My House/The Warehouse/Mint Club/Northern Light for underground/jackin/minimal/techy house & techno
and
Space/Discoteque/Mission/Rehab (speed queen)/Oceania for funky/electro type stuff.

Although there's probably exceptions to this....

T-Boy (James) & Mozzi (Will) were both the resident DJs....up until recently. T-Boy has now moved on. Mozzi remains resident. I'm not a DJ, just do the promoting/bookings etc. Sept 22nd (week changed cos i'm in Ibiza on 2nd friday of Sep) is our next party, just residents & mates playing at that one....from then on its back to 2nd friday of month: Friday Oct 13th is our 3rd birthday party, should be a beaut.8)

I love Brighton, it's one of my favorite places. We wanted to move there a few years back, but it would have taken me even longer to get home to see my parents oop north. :p

any clues for the birthday party guest?? ;)

Currently looking into various options. The night pushes various house sounds, so it could be anyone from East Coast Boogiemen to Mike Monday (2 guests we've had on in the past & liked)

Will post it everywhere as soon as its sorted....
