Sorry to bring politics to this forum, but I am wondering what europeans think about the subject. Personally, I think the whole conflict with Lebanon is a cover-up for Isreal to take over Gaza without people watching... I am scared that this entire situation is getting out of control due to Isreal's over use of power. Discuss...
 
i can't begin to put in words how much anger i have for the politics and foreign policy of Israel. so i'm not going to try and i don't wanna spoil my day by getting wound up by it.

There are only two other nations whose foreign policy I despise more than (or as much as) Israel's and they are two of its closest allies, UK and USA. I'm ashamed as a UK citizen to be represented by such an aggressive and arrogant government.
 
Yeah and when it comes to Israel George Bush will be right up their ass backing them! Pissing more potential terrorists off and indirectly increasing the threat of terrorist attacks on the UK and other European countries.

Israel go in, cause havoc knowing that when things go tits up, the US will come running to their rescue, then we are all in deep **** because the islamists will have more of a case for holy war against western countries!
 
I went to a silent demonstration yesterday evening againts all that thing.
I know little about that long conflict, but I can't understand the impunity of Israel and why ONU and the rest of the world seems to look at the other side :?
 
The simple question to ask is will you expect your country and your leaders to sit back and negotiate if they had a neighboring state with groups like Hezbollah and Hamas? Any of the major powers would not give a hoot about world opinion if they were in the same boat.
 
I dont' know what Canada is going to do... tis estimated there are about 50 000 Canadians in lebanon right now, many there on summer holiday. There certainly don't seem to be enough resources to get people out of very quickly
 
I'd really hate to get into a political discussion on a clubbing board, even though i'm unfortunately physically VERY involved in what goes on in this 'feud'.

Regardless of the fact i live in Israel, I'm not gonna take any side or vouch for any country (especially since i'm not the one who makes the final "go hit 'em" call). One thing i gotta say though: do NOT believe everything (or even 10% of it) you read/see/hear on TV/Internet/Radio!

You don't live 'in the zone' (i do), and thus u have no idea in what the truth really is and what really goes on around here!

Now waiting to hear yet another warning siren before i go back to the bomb shelter <G>
