Everyone i speak to say to hang on for 6 months before buying as there is a 'format war' on the go & things are bound to drop through the floor on price.

That's not for televisions, that's for next generation disc players (Blu Ray vs HD-DVD). Each format is fighting to replace DVDs, and the tech companies and movie studios are split over which one they're supporting.

There are 2 formats of high-resolution TV (LCD and Plasma, plus a 3rd format, projection, if you want to count that) but there's no war between them. They coexist peacefully. LCD are way ahead in sales, mainly because they're cheaper. The prevalence of one over the other won't have much effect on prices though.

Absolutely! Pilchard has one and it's great! Just buy a crap telly for when you're in the mood for some background ****e and use the projector for one of your walls. It's ace.
Definately my fave gadget.

Projector: the cooling system could be very noisy and is not suitable for a small room, also temperature raises quickly and you might have to watch your porn with windows open. The light bulb is quite expensive to replace.
LCD: make sur it's HD Ready but most of them are.
Avoid Sharp/Aquos; I made a bad experience.
South Korean brands were first in the market, try LG but it all depends on how you like your colors

Samsung - £380, lacks built in freeview, but will go well with Xbox and colour scheme of the room. - might save up more for the R74 26" tho which are the same price as the above...

Sony use Samsung screens so you might as well just buy a samsung as they're cheaper.

Just go for the highest contrast ratio you can afford I guess- blacks will be blacker and thus more realistic.

tvs, dvds, lcds, its all the same to a small town boy like me - just vehicles for showing me boobies and sport!8)

my friend got a 26" bust LCD HD TV from woolworths for £350 a think, you should check the back of the new argos catalouge?

Argos do great deals.
Not sure why Sony and Samsung charge so much more than Bush etc..
At the end of the day, HD quality should be the same in all makes.. or am i wrong?

Well its like anything you pay for what you get. A bush tv will look ok but if you pay a bit more for a sony the picture will be a lot better
