Any tips on how to shed the elusive last half stone? (that's about 6-7 lbs for those not familiar with Stones!)

I've been trying to shift it for about a year! :D

If you are on the contraceptive pill - come off it (find another method)

(also at the risk of losing your boobies........ :? _

I am on the pill and recently changed brands ( the last lot gave me spots *yuk*). I'd love to come off the pill, but me and my boyfriend are used to things a certain way....if you know what I mean? :D

Come off the pill and take it like a man... ;)

*sigh* I'm so poor sexy, I can't afford gym membership. I use an exercise bike at home and walk the dog but its not enough - it's a hopeless case I think. I just need to lose it for September (Ibiza) or I'll spend the entire holiday in a tracksuit :D

The last few pounds are always the hardest to lose - do you go to the gym as you may have to step up your workout to a new level.

It also depends on where the extra pounds are - if it's your belly, then do lots of double crunches (knees up and head up at same time), if it's your legs then swimming is great.

I'm a guy - it's taking me bloody ages to lose the last few pounds too !

If i need to I always cut out the carbs compelely for 3/4 weeks, except fruit.

It's hard, it won't kill you and it works.

You can't "spot" reduce fat in this way.

Your body will shed fat in it's own way. Rather at the point where the exercise takes place.

You will strengthen your stomach muscles but it won't automatically get rid of fat in that area, it may come off your bum, legs, arms etc instead.

Swimming, cycling walking and running are all effective and easy ways of losing weight overall. Even more effective if you're eating right.

That's what really bugs me because I eat really well and I do exercise but it seems that my weight has just settled at this point and won't budge. I feel like I would have to eat next to nothing to lose the weight which wouldn't be effective because I wouldn't be able to keep it up.

This really does work. I lost a stone and a half in 4 weeks. It can be difficult sometimes, but pm me if you want details. I have some nice info you can have.

That sounds like you are at your ideal weight then Rascalsilver. My weight has stayed the same for years and for me to put weight on I need to completely pig myself out and for me to lose weight I have to starve myself so it could just be that you're at the right weight for your height and build.

- Regular exercise (3/4 x 30 minutes a week)
- No booze (which is massive in calories)
- Low carbs
- Lots & lots of fruit/veg/fish or chicken.

Job done.

Astanga yoga will get you in the shape you want to be.
It draws you in around your muscles and makes you all sinewy (sp?)...trust me, a month of that and you'll be looking and feeling fabulous. :D
