Km5

I'm assuming loads of you have been so what's it like? I'm going to take the other half to a few nice restaurants when we go over in 3 weeks. I've penciled in Khumaras, Villa Mercedes, Pacha Restaurant and a couple of others but KM5 is somewhere i've heard mentioned but never really looked in to. What's the menu like, how much is it likely to set me back for 2 of us and should i book? We are hiring a car but only for a couple of days so if people can recommend places that aren't too difficult to find that would be great as well. We are staying in San An bay btw. Thanks

definitely book your table beforehand if going in august.
there's a fine choice of meat and fish dishes at km5 - the beef steak i had a few years ago was delicious, i still remember it today.
i'd say calculate around 120€ for two including starters, main and a bottle of wine.
nowadays i go to km5 for a drink pre-clubbing, they're doing some wicked cocktails there and the location is beautiful. haven't been to the restaurant at km5 for a while tbh!

Ahh the famous KM5.
Me and some friends stayed in the villa above the bar/restaurant.

We went in there one vening before heading out and must say it is a beautiful venue.

Is it best to book in the garden or restaurant?

eh? the garden ist the bar part of the location - i guess you can make a reservation there if you're a group of people going for drinks.

dinner = restaurant.

I just saw on the website there were 2 options. Thanks for the heads up

Went last Tuesday, but only as part of my pre-clubbing rounds for (great) drinks and lovely service.. How come we just go for drinks and partying and not to eat ?!!

Setting's really super here at night - lovely projected visuals, bars, garden/chill-out areas & smallish dancefloor area. Restaurant looks a nice place to eat but don't know what the food's like just that it was pricey from a quick look at the menu ! Guess like Aura you go as much for the lounge garden and music before/after as the food itself ?

Amusing, friendly and more sophisticated crowd than many places - good old chin-wags at the bar and good fun, rather upbeat music from Paul Lomax & friends, who were not being too cheesy, honest - it felt right for the setting :)

Try the Tuesday Deepflight party if it's on whilst your there.. ? Seemed to be going weekly rather than bi-weekly but their fb page not updated after last night yet.

Hi Dave.

I've been for a meal at KM5 several times - the steaks are fantastic. It's quite expensive there though. Definitely book a table in advance.

PS - just a few thoughts on your other question about restaurants easy to find, if you're pining for something more British try this out & let us all know what the food's like (the bar's great 'after hours') :

Or also close by with very good food - just head out of San Antonio towards Sta Agnes and turn off onto the road to Cala Salada. It's on your right : http://www.canpou.com/

Brand new this year and getting rave reviews is the following .. it's in Sant Joan de Labritja on the way to Portinatx so not exactly close, but is easy to find :

http://www.cafe.thegiri.com/

Simpler food all day with some of the best tapas anywhere and also really close to San An Bay : Can Tixedo (Jose Padillo plays there every Tuesday now ...). Download a map before you set out to find it tho'

Ctra. Sta Ines Km 5, 07820 Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ibiza, Spain

Thanks for those i will give them a good look and try to find them on maps over the weekend. I've got a table booked for KM5 already and will have a look for some more as well. We are out for over 2 weeks and the first week is non stop partying with a group of mates and then they all go home so the second week will be far more chilled...... well that's the plan :D

:D - a few more then as the can of Red Bull I foolishly drank at 11.30 is keeping me awake ....

Suggest looking at Nostrum's and Morbyd's trip reviews - they have so many great tips on dining already in addition to the restaurant review thread itself. A few more below which don't come up very often with couples in mind :

Las dos Lunas - Impossibly romantic place for couples (seriously), mediterranean-italian themed food and just off the San An - Ibiza motorway short of the roundabout that has Amnesia on the other side (if I remember right ..) http://www.lasdoslunas.com/

Amante at Cala Llonga is ridiculously romantic at night. The restaurant really is lovely at night. Went there last week in the day to chill a bit and also check out their new Dom Perignon table "dining experience". Cliffside, it's a very different VIP dining concept on the island where they convert the massage tent area into a romantic table for 2 screened from the rest of the restaurant and set it off with candles, special lighting etc.. You get dedicated waiters just for you and the chef prepares a special menu for the night of the best stuff they can get their hands on. Bottle of Dom Perignon comes with the package. Budget around 450Euros ish for 2. Expect to be up against every VVIP on the island for the hottest table in Ibiza, but it's new so still possible .. if you wannna really splash some dosh about !! http://www.amanteibiza.com/

Ama Lur - Very understated and exclusive place, rarely mentioned but for years a favourite with A-listers and those people who own the big villas who like hiding from the paparazzi ... with Basque cuisine. It's on the Ibiza-Sant Miquel road. You never know who you'll see in there ;) but unfortunately a friend told me the food's gone downhill recently and it's very pricey http://www.restauranteamalur.com/

"Supperclub" @ Novum in Sta. Gertrudis - brand new this year (old venue taken over & refitted).. kick off yr shoes & lounge on beds for sushi-focused dinner whilst watching performances of all kinds (often sexy especially on Burlesque-themed Fridays) - an "adult" restaurant ... if that floats your boat !! http://www.supperclub.com/html/ibiza/

Supperclub Events - McRakin posts them here http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=70091

El Ayoun : Very flashy indeed Arabian style extravaganza of a place but 100Euro each-ish for dinner full of the super-glam set. In St Rafael. DJ & dance too.

Events thread - http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=70089

Aura : Needs no introduction - 10.30pm drinks for 11ish table probably perfect, dancing till 4. Best nights (imo) - Wax da Jam w/Nightmares on Wax (Tuesdays), Just House on Saturdays, and Superfreqchic party on Thursday 18th August w/Mr C & guest from Wagon Repair (Canada) - ooh yeah ! http://www.auraibiza.com/

Get that car for more than 2 days ? it's so expensive on short-term hire :) !!!

The places seems a bit of a way from PDB. How much would you expect a taxi to cost?

Superclub: Carretera Ibiza - Sta Gertrudis, km 3 (Poligono Cana Palava), Ibiza, Spain)
Aura: Carretera de Sant Joan, Km 13,5 07812 Sant Llorenc, Ibiza

the supperclub isn't too far away, i'd say about 25-30€ maybe for a taxi.
aura is further away though, a taxi will cost about 40€ i guess...not sure though.
