Kids before marriage??

i hate kids. i have done for years. it's the noise and the smell that puts me off. i'm in my 50's now and still show no signs of changing my mind. my lovely wife thinks the same too. give us a dog any day - no problems with family names there!

Taking a step back and reading this thread, it's no wonder some people are predicting the imminent decline of Western civilization

The Spotlight birth/replacement ratio is going to be really bad

My partner would like a double barrelled name if we get married.

I think it's important to her to keep her name in part as her father died when she was quite young.

I'm definately taking my partners name when we get married, just for practical reasons more than anything else. My surname is such a b@st@rd to spell. If Jon is the guy lucky enough to marry me ;) then his name will do just fine. Mrs Rebecca Lynch has a nice ring to it I think, easy to spell, no confusion etc ;)
In the past my surname has been mis-spelt as Honclience, Harradeenee, Harddance, Harradine etc... I can't be bothered to keep spelling it to people
