Keane - FIFA vice-president is 'a clown'

Friday, 12 September 2008 11:04
Furious Sunderland boss Roy Keane has branded FIFA vice-president Jack Warner 'a clown' in a war of words over Dwight Yorke.
Warner accused Keane earlier this week of 'insensitivity and disrespect' in a letter leaked to the media after he alleged Yorke had been withdrawn from the Trinidad and Tobago squad for the midweek clash with the United States by his club.
And Keane revealed he had contacted the special advisor to the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation to let him know exactly what he thinks of him.

The Corkman said: 'The man's a clown. He sent me a letter and he was quite happy to give it to the media. I spoke to him on Wednesday and I told him what I thought about him and where I think he should go.
'He is writing these letters and it is always under the FIFA heading just to impress everybody. If he is vice-president of FIFA, then God help us.
'He has not written me a letter about Kenwyne Jones, who got injured playing in a friendly match. They selected Carlos Edwards last year when he was out with a broken leg.
'Yorkie keeps making these cameo guest appearances for them, so maybe they have got some sort of deal going on themselves, I don't know.
'The man is a clown.'
Yorke, 36, came out of international retirement to make a cameo appearance in the friendly against England in June in which Jones suffered knee ligament damage.
He has since had a re-think, but having been handed another year's contract at the Stadium of Light he had promised the club he would only play for his country if it did not interfere with his domestic commitments.
Yorke captained Trinidad and Tobago in the 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw with Guatemala on Saturday but did not feature in Wednesday's 3-0 defeat in Chicago.

Just been watching him on SSN

Top man, you can see the anger in his eyes, he's still got that proper mad streak in him

I'm a mackem and love watching his interviews, never sugar coats anything, top man, top manager aswell

Roy Keane epitomises everything that is good about football, he's a football man through and through and you won't catch him in some cr*p London niteclub at 5am draped around some model with fake tits and fake personality who will most likely sell her story to the press, he says it as it is and takes no bulls*it and was a brilliant footballer, one of the best in the world on his day.

Yes, everything that's good about football. I thought it was especially "good" of him to intentionally break other players' legs. You won't find those London club-hopping footballers doing great footballing moves like that!

Whathisname Haaland? got his just desserts for what he done to Keano 2 years previously so fcuk him.

IIRC

Keane booted Haaland
injured himself in the process
Haaland had the cheek to berate him for this

so 3 and a half years later
keane shatters haalands leg
eventually leading to his retirement

real class

Hardly. If you think it's a laugh to deliberately ruin someone's career through GBH then you've got some issues. Keane injured himself trying to tackle Haaland and decided to get his own back as Haaland accused him of over-acting, by going out of his way to ruin Haaland in the most nasty way possible, as he even admitted in his own autobiography.

Top man, aye.

Wasn't it Keane also who quit the Ireland squad in World Cup 2002 because he had a falling out with the Irish football federation?

Great player but not sure about his temperament

I should hope you wouldn't at his age. I m sorry to taint your somewhat romantic image of him but I was privvy to Roy doing all of that in many of Nottinghams watering holes over the early 90's. I am even privilleged enough to have been called a "long haired cnut" one night when a mate of mine (big forest fan) called him a judas as he staggered into a cab coming out of "Jallons"!

But he is obviously matured a lot since then (as some of us do) and whilst he is slowly earning my respect as a manger, he was a complete cnut as a player, talented or not!!!

He's a nasty, horrible screwed up guy.

People hero worshipping such a person have big problems.

just stopped laughing!

dream land again. J45. He was as big a pish head as existed in his day.

you need to get your willy wet and stop being so bitter about these guys.

i still can't believe that after admitting, in his book, what he was planning to do to haaland, he wasn't convicted of something.

a premeditated, violent intent to cause someone as much harm as possible; end up finishing their career.

that's british justice for ya.
