Kate Moss - Model of the Year

I never was influenced by a celeb.

I think I've mentioned this in other posts... but I can't stand when people 'blame' celebs for their problems.

At one point people were blaming Kate Moss for their anorexic teenager, blame Marilyn Manson for school shootings, blame the 'goth' culture for the columbine school shooting...now lets blame Kate Moss for your child's coke problem

No one can take responsibility for their own actions anymore..it always has to be someone else's fault

I like Kate Moss :)

It's not a matter of whether I like Kate Moss, but someone who has been caught drug taking and investigated by police shouldn't be awarded "model of the year" in the same year IMO.
That just says to me that the people who own this award dont really give a sh1t whether she takes drugs or not, which gives a bad impression out IMO.

It's like.... I dunno.... Hugh Grant winning an Oscar in the same year he's caught paying a druggie prositute for sex. The Oscars just wouldn't do it!

But the award was for 'model of the year' not for 'nun of the year' or 'clean wholesome person of the year' - she won an award in an industry where the vast majority of people at all levels take drugs and have been doing for years way before La Moss ever became the latest scapegoat.

But the argument is whether its morally right for her to be awarded that after being cautioned for drugs the same year. I know to us its nothing, but to the high standing law-abiding people of Britain, they probably see it as a bit of a travesty!

But do most people actually think of it as a big deal - apart from Daily Mail readers, the vast majority of, I would say, fairly intelligent people know that drugs are pretty common in the UK in our day and age and an award like 'model of the year' (which is quite a dubious title anyway - how do you award model of the year??!) going to a model in an industry which is rife in drugs isn't particularly shocking or controversial imo.

Well it must be a big deal to some people if its made all the National news headlines.
I'd say if I asked most older people who dont have any contact with drugs they'd probably disagree with her being awarded Model of the Year.

I guess to us it isnt a big deal as we know drugs are everywhere these days, but to someone to whom taking drugs is a big deal, they wouldnt agree with it.

 Bec you're sounding like a Daily Mail reader  ;) Even my mum and dad accept drugs are everywhere these days and aren't shocked that La Moss won model of the year

How do you get tickets to Nun of the Year? I bet they have some great afterparties.

If she'd been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize I'd be worried. As things stand she must be the most successful model of 2006 - a worthy winner imo. ;)

Good night all, have nice weekends. x
