Junior Jack - Da Hype

Yeah i'd stick with the original dub :)

I think it got played 3 or 4 times at so by various diff dj's!

the legend Robert Smith

seems to be taking a even more ofa liking to dance music these days...

the junior Jack tune
redoing A Forest with Blank & Jones

although remember Oakenfold once said that The Cure were his fave group and Lullaby is a Balearic classic!

Micheal

The robert smith vocal version is tops. Reminds me so much of being back at school, when the cure were at there peak

Vocal is no good. Lovin' "Stupid Disco" as well... heard both at Love Puppy on Sunday :-)

His versatility is his weakness imo. He far from amazes me. Thrill me & e-samba sounded far too alike. Da hype is nothing new or original, it borrows a lot from french house. I've said this all before though so i wont bother going into it :)

No no Michael!!!!
Robert Smith of The Cure....the vocals on Junior Jacks' "Da Hype"....there is a vocal mix with him singing......it's him I'm surprised is around!! ;)

Dude, how can making music from one end of muzik to the next be a weakness? Thrill me and e-samba MAY sound similar (not in my opinion), but tell me does e-samba sound like da hype? NO it doesnt...thats the whole point. Now, everyone has hailed Sasha's Airdrawndagger...EVERY song on that album sounds similar, where Sasha's music just flows and is very similar sounding...JJ manages to hit EVERY angle of music in his house choons. JJ's versatility makes him a better producer as he hits all aspects of house. As far as borrowing from "french" house...i dont know what ur talking about. What do u classify as "french" house? House is house man...i dont understand this need to sectify it into "french" house or "balearic" house etc...now i DONT know what "french" house sounds like, but i DO know that da hype is pure elektrofunk. And there r some songs out there that sound similar to it, particularly stuff from the Subliminal label such as Who Da Funks - Shiny Disco Balls, but to say its UNORIGINAL is absurd.

p.s. i didnt like stupidisco very much at the beginning but its wearing on me.

yeh

yeh but he does rip off alot other peoples tunes. Especially daft punk 's 'burin'n' for 'thrill me', and whats this with, dave armstrong - make your move and 'superdisco'. Is it becuase they can't get sample clearences???

just a thought

Doesn't Junior Jack also go under the name of Room 5? So isn't he expressing a different form of his music through a different handle?

How many psuedonyms has Fat Boy Slim gone under? All of his records sound the same when he produces them under FBS. Whereas pizzaman's Trippin on sunshine is a completely different direction. (Bring back The House Martins)

A big slice of chedder

A couple of years ago I probably would have like this tune, but i fear that its the same old format with JJ these days, personally I think he is just taking the p*ss...

B-side 'stupid disco' would have been a nice tune if he'd released it before Dave Amstrong - make your move...

Either way im not bothered, wont be purchasing this record...

how can you say it's the same old p*ss, when he made , easily one of the best house songs in history last year? Esamba, may even be one of the best songs ever made period. The hype, is not as good, but, it's not that bad.

If you dont know what french house is str8 then you wont know why i'm not that impressed by da hype. Yeah its a cool track and i'll quite happily dance away to it but all i said was its not very original if you listen to people like Le Knight club etc they've been doing this for years. Room5 is JJ but blatently he's got people working with him on this. 'Make luv' was the biggest rip off i've heard in years, if you havent heard the original track he sampled then i suggest you get hold of it. I think it was vdub or monkeh who made a post about over-sampling and i think 'make luv' takes the biscuit, its a disgrace.

E-samba and thrill me are good yeah but you cant deny they sound very similar in the drop. I think one of the main quarrells i have with JJ is 'over-sampling'. I'd be interested to see if the da-hype melody was sampled. To me it sounds like it is because it doesnt vary like it would if it was programmed. Whenever i hear high sample based songs the chorus's usually involve filtering in out etc which is exactly what da-hype does.

At the end of the day none of this really matters to the people on the dancefloor but i cant say that it doesnt get on my t1ts.

At the end of the day JJ is a great artist/producer, no matter how u look at it. period.

Waiting to see what his next dancefloor smashing release will be...

Even with my small knowledge of house music I can confidently say that Esamba is NOT the greatest piece of house music ever made!

I'm not going to waste my time commenting on JJ any further, other than to say that I hope he keeps entertaining the easily pleased who don't wan't for anything more than a good slice of cheese! :P
