But mainly I just look at how amazingly well this world was made; everything has it's place, everything in perfect order (Except us). Could it of just happened by chance? Mathematicians say that it is roughly 1x10 to the power of 200,000 chance of this world we live in happening again somwhere else.

Indeed - the world is an amazing place - it might created by some supernatural force - but then again, it might not. No religion has explained it, or proved their version of creation to be any more valid than the next . Some have built up huge followings based on teachings 'facts' which they now except to be farbrication, oops, sorry parable/allegories.

Someone teach me here, is it Catholicism that taught that 'Hell' was a real and literal place and got people to believe through instilling fear of going there, but now teaches that it doesn't actually exist after all? This is a genuine question - my Catholic education ended when I asked our local priest if the could prove any of what he said and then told him 'it's not very likely then, is it?'

Islam and Christianity have elements both based on tolerance and putting others before yourself. Which are worthy sentiments in my book.

It's the people who abuse religion for their own agendas which fck it all up.

I'd agree with that those are worthy sentiments in there own right, regardless of what you believe.

Jerry Springer. Saw it on stage. great. like all tele filmings of stage producions, it looked rubbish. (just like when you see clubs on tv they always look tinny, amateurish and unexciting.)

Christian: I was offended by what you just said.

Bill Hicks: Well then, you can forgive me then.

If ever a thread reflected the very flaws in human nature the word speaks about then this is it 8) IMO of course ( free speech n ting)

Evolutionists

Had a good think about this last night and think I owe Dual Life an apology, or at very least, a correction. Having re-read my post I can see that my use of the term 'creationist b*llsh*t' appears an slur on all religious people as opposed to what I meant, which is the 'b*llsh*t' that occurs in creationist organised religions.

I'm personally open to the possibility of a creator of some kind, just as I'm open to all manner of explanations for things that conventional science can't, as yet, explain. It's just that the literal 'facts' given by the religions I know anything about (which I'll admit aren't many because my interest dies the minute a learn that blind faith is necessary in them) are no more likely than anything I could make up for myself.

Coley - explain please (if you don't mind). A teacher said something similar to your post when we had this conversation, years ago (yup, I was twat then too  ). That human nature's flaw was to disbelieve that which we are not capable of understanding, that to disbelieve is a conceit. But that doesn't work, unless you're gonna believe as fact anything you can't disprove?

Unless you want a long and tedious conversation, only ever ask me 'closed' questions, Stuie. And state clearly who your question is aimed at, because I will answer unless you specifically exclude me. And probably even if you do  Or something.

All of the people that complained about the BBC showing Jerry Springer:The Musical had a choice whether they watched it or not.

Plus who give's all of the people who complained the right to dictate what I can and can't watch?

Whats the betting that this religious group who plan to sue the bbc for bhasphermy (think i spelt that wrong) sat down on their sofa's with a pen and paperand counted the number of times the actors swore, or made a reference to god or jesus or said anything else they didn;t agree with, then had the balls to comdem anyone that watched it!

Here's My Final Thought : I watched it, and enjoyed it.

Spot on. Exactly. I contol my flicker, nobody else. I control what I wanna see, and if something I don't wanna see comes on, well, I'll change it. The musical sounds unbeliveably stupid funny, and I probably would of loved watching the show. About the only thing I don't like to see on TV is violence; totally unnatural and stupid, and Bodily fluids/solids. This includes feces, vomit, urine, semen and others.

*edit* James, why is the technical term for "poop" edited? It is not a swear word, "Crap" or "Shit" are but they aren't edited, which is just asinine.*edit*

Hey Buckley. I was refering to the remark that to you credit you have already corrected yourself on. ;)

Ive been going to pentecostle church on my on free will for over 4 years now and love everything that the gospal is about.

Sure Iv'e had issues with my religion at times and believe me in the height of my angst ive said a few bad things towards the very God I endeavor to follow.

4 years ago my faith was ALL i had to help lead me from a very bad situation (which ive written about on here b4)and its my belief Iv'e been given a 2nd and proper crack at life.
So to then see my faith riduculed and lambasted in public forums in the wake of films such as Passion of the Christ and this Jerry Springroll malarki I can only feel a little disappointed for some people.

I do understand the church has alot of holier than thou doughnuts who dont do themselves any favours by condeming people when they really need to take a good look at themselves.

It just seems that in most parts slaggin of christianity is perfectly ok whereas would those same peeps feel comfortable making similar remarks about other faiths and "belief systems" and more so would it be allowed.

Coley - Glad hope my correction went someone to reversing any offence caused.

Snowed under today but they'll be more later..... ;)

no worries none taken and tbh I can understand alot of sceptisism when u look at the sxxt that goes on in this world.

There has been much documented evidence that back up faith but you'd have to search for it in the relevent circles as its not a very well recieved subject in maintstream media , never has been in this time and never will be.

However if every facet of christianity had tangable evidence then there is no faith. (according to my maths anyway)

Im no trained mash n liquor geezer just someone who has a belief system like everyone else on this earth.
