Is anyone else traumatised about going back to work on this day?
I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to cope with that one.
Taking holiday is an option but I've got so many places I want to go in 2007 that it seems a bit of a frivolous way to use holiday.
:?
Rubbish! :x

It is very traumatic esp cos we've been spoiled these last few years with an extra day or 2 cos of the way Christmas/New Year has fallen - fortunately I'm not back til the 4th :D but if not I was considering being Scottish cos they get an extra day off

Trust you to have planned this one in advance.
Next time please put out a distress signal.

 Sorry, next year I'll flag up the situation in July to give you time to make alternative arrangements

It is rubbish tho isn't it, what kind of country makes you go back to work on 2nd Jan

I told you I'm not proud to be British. ;)

Do you think it might be time to throw a p__ off the balcony just to see what will happen? 8O

It might bring London to a stand still!

 I think a full-blown p_____a_____ is just what's needed on the 2nd Jan 8O

My mum will have a few p_____ left after Christmas lunch so I'll bring them back down for you

Eeeek didnt even notice that - thanks for the reminder, just booked off the 2nd and 3rd (but its no hardship as I've got over 35 days vacation for 2007 to take)

We are dealing with this by going clubbing on the 30th and having a small party at ours on the 31st......it has so many benefits. NYE is always too busy, too wet and windy, too many queues and impossible to get home. Also you will have an extra day to recover.
No doubt though that we will end up getting on it again on NYE, stay up until 9 or 10am and end up in Vauxhall anyway.

You know you've just made it worse for yourself!

8th January 8)
9th January :p 8)

I'll be sitting on a beach in Mexico on Jan 2. Might go see Paul van Dyk that night as he's playing in some club there (or maybe not...)

Russia's got the system right... January 1-5 are holidays. Nobody gets any work done that week anyway, so they just decided 2 years ago to shut the whole thing down. :D

If any of those days fall on a weekend (doesn't happen this year, unfortunately) then you get a subsqeuent weekday off. Plus January 7 is a holiday for Orthodox Christmas. Year before last, I think the first working day of the year was January 13

I am very very upset at this indeed

Shall have to be 'good' on NYE as the 2 weeks when I get back are completely filled with very important work indeed.

Another reason to book January 2 off.
