Jamie Jones..

well... I love 2manydjs... so there.... :p

thank god we dont all like the same thing... can you imagine the nightmare getting into places?

In fairness to Jamie he had a reasonably good early run, but well over-did it last year, seemed to play everywhere going, ran out of tricks and passion and just burned out his own flame (imo). Seth did a similar thing - from what I saw of him.

Lee Foss's style is nothing like Jamie's really, is it ? What I've heard of him includes 'accessible' house (i.e. enough vocals and booty wigglers to please a certain set of a certain age - who have enough free time and money to go out regularly).

I wouldn't call either of their styles particularly 'underground' - perhaps Jamie's more than Lee's. But I haven't seen either regularly so it's hard to generalize. Both have rather 'naughty boy' images .... and I think that's helped their popularity as much as their performance behind the decks ...

As has already been said where does it matter which club and which night the DJ plays on as long as they stick to playing the sort of music they are known for?!

The club and the crowd are equally if not far more important than which DJ is playing... in my book anyhow. For example, got a lot of time for Sasha's music but at Fabric at peak time in a room that resembles a tube in Rush Hour full of 'flat' people generating very little atmosphere, playing a warm-up set at 4am ... I'd rather be home in my bed. Ta very much !!

You know that when you hear chavs signing Hungry for the Powder 8O

You just gotta love the Chavs sometimes

Each to their own. I personally will be disappointed if Jamie jones is in dc10 when I'm there. Matthias tanzman, cassy, Tanya vulcano are djs that lift the place. Like Evo said there are soooooo many better DJs. Deep house has been around for time I don't feel Jamie has contributed massively to it really. I don't dislike him and as much as I love azari and iii I think his remix was better than the original but as a dj he does not excite me very much and I don't think he's suited to dc10.

agree with all that

thought squillace was great the 2 times i saw him at dc10 last year

Im getting so bored of dj and club brand bashing... I know I have been guilty of it in the past... and you wont see me paying 70euro a ticket to see Guetta at Pacha or anywhere.

Pacha is a beautiful club, and on the right night can really go off... i have had some amazing nights there.

I think Jamie Jones is ok... he's not one of my faves... but who cares? There are tooooo many people jumping on the Hater bandwagon, as soon as an artist gets good public criticism.

Why is this??? I just don't get it...

Last summer people were all over Jamie Jones... how he's topped a poll he's the anorak's worst enemy. Get over it and just enjoy the music.

Too much energy is wasted on 'why things are sh*t'... 'why vip areas are sh*t'.... 'why commercial dance music is s*it'.... etc etc.

So boring now.

I agree with Sophie TBH, I thought I knew the scene well though, but this thread has shocked me, all the Jamie Jones hate, I am suprised

You might want to read the thread back because nobody in this thread has said they hate Jamie Jones. Just that some of us rate lots of other DJ's higher. That is not hate thats just preference.

Trance is more suited to clubs with lasers it's the vibe the music gives that's why people use glow sticks and wear fluffy boots, it's suits the music. Fluffy boots and tutus does not go with house or techno.

Admittedly I used to see this a lot but it died a death recently. I haven't been to a trance event and seen fluffy boots, cyber gear and glow sticks in ages. I think it's only hard dance and hardcore clinging onto that.

Agree about Tiesto though. He's groomed this 'stadium'/'big stage' persona over the last 3 or 4 years which is why Privilege suited him perfectly. Maybe his move towards house and electro means he has to tone things down a bit and cultivate a new image. Or maybe it's purely dollar signs.

In Ibiza each club does tend to suit a certain type of music in a way. Amnesia is definitely the best place for trance hence why Cream has never budged. I suppose the clubs have to work overtime on dressing the club to suit the names on the roster.

Yeah didn't mean it like it came out mate... I meant hate as is the slang term hate not as it should be used sorry though. 8)

I've not been to a trance night in about 14 years hence my mistake lol but I think you get my point :) I quite liked all the cyber thing when it first came out, I never dabbled in it myself but it was a nice little statement for people. Then after a while when those people are getting older and still wearing the weird, coloured spikey (and now thinning)hair and it's been going on for a couple of years you begin to realise it's not very good after all:lol:

What are you talking about? Typical (dare I say) "tourist" outsiders view of Pacha who confuses their commercial nights with other nights.

I was still going strong to Matthias Tanzmann in Pacha at 7.30AM last September! Yes, you read it that DC10 regular..... Matthias Tanzmann. What about Luciano, Seth Troxler, 2ManyDJs, Laurent Garnier etc.... OMG they play Pacha too in front of a trashed crowd!

What's unusual about those DJs playing Pacha? They are all big name popular DJs (ticket sellers)

I cringe whenever I see a pic or video of luciano now. Can't believe he was my favourite DJ a few years ago, as soon as he started his own night he morphed into this pretentious Cristal drinking superstar DJ ***** playing 80's pop music...

Couldnt agree more.
Becoming a headliner week in week out destroys a DJ's music production.

Once they are being paid ridiculous funds every week to DJ - their production values go in the toilet.

ie. Sweedish House, Jamie Jones, etc

But still there are some exceptions i guess, aka Guetta

I think it was the Pete Tong night which was responsible for this. He saw another side of the coin
