Jamie Jones..

Well not necessarily commercial as long as he sticks to the music he has always played hes done nothing wrong. I wouldn't worry about any if the djs I liked going to the dark side cos atm theres a thousand other out there just as good. Sometimes I think I wouldn't mind a night in pacha for a change havent been for years and someone I like will be there now but then other times I think what's the point there r so many others i can see who play just the same music who I like and probably will have a cheaper night

Solomun, MK and Riva Starr at Defected.

Now that's a line up

i am on the island that evening and struggling for a plan that night

what style do these dj's play??

Solomun is a kind of deep house - but not strictly to that genre
MK is more soulful deep house
Riva Starr is very upbeat minimal tech house.

Either way its a great variety of acts who I think compliment each other brilliantly

So, assuming you are a Jamie Jones fan, your telling me that you would have as much enjoyment listening to him in Oceana, Skegness - full of boozed up chavs causing trouble and groping women, opposed to in DC10 Ibiza as the sun goes down - full of people with the same mindset, enjoying the moment just as much as you.

i doubt it...:spank:

Oceana Skegness & Pacha Ibiza....slight difference there.

I was speaking in terms of Ibiza clubbing as Oceana Skeg would never book JJ.

I'm not a JJ fan, everyone got overly excited due to one remix he's done. There are plenty of better DJs out there.

DC10 when busy can be a not so delightful place to be as people are often pushing and shoving to get own dancing spot.

One big remix he has done?
Jamie and Lee foss have been huge catalysts in the rise of underground deep house in the UK. There Hot Creations lable (Waves, Natured etc) has help so many up and coming artists get their names out (ie Alexis Raphael, Danny Daze, Russ Yallop, the list goes on).

I think stating that everyone is excited because of one good remix is a bit naive, and untrue.

And with regards to the examples I was giving, obviously they were only examples.

Maybe using Paul Van Dyke and Tiesto in Zoo Project would suffice?

Fact is, certain venues suit different music genres and DJs.

May be less chavs in dc10 but there are quite a few of the other evil 'cool people'

you mean 'quote unquote' ****ers. they are worse than chavs sometimes, at least chavs are normally loved up at clubs, not thinking they are better than everyone else there.

Each to their own. I personally will be disappointed if Jamie jones is in dc10 when I'm there. Matthias tanzman, cassy, Tanya vulcano are djs that lift the place. Like Evo said there are soooooo many better DJs. Deep house has been around for time I don't feel Jamie has contributed massively to it really. I don't dislike him and as much as I love azari and iii I think his remix was better than the original but as a dj he does not excite me very much and I don't think he's suited to dc10.

I wasn't aware we were discussing how good the artists were that he has helped come onto the scene? As a DJ really don't rate him all that much, my personal opinion. He has become as popular as he appears to be these days due to that remix.

Van Dyk or Tiesto at Gala night would work...maybe not on the specific Zoo Project but then they wouldn't be able to afford to book either or them nor would they as it's not with their music policy.

Tong has always had a range of artists from a variety of genres on his night. He's not the sort of DJ that sticks with one genre or DJ type, hence why JJ could easily DJ at Pacha and fit in well.

I will admit I have never been bothered by a chav in Ibiza. My main concern is people invading dance space to stand still, often a crime committed by 'cool people' who don't want to get sweat on their massive Dior shades and Gucci linens (translated as looky glasses and cheese cloth crap from shop in playa den bossa)

Fair point about Tong, but i dont agree with Gala night.

Nor me. Tiesto needs stadium size clubs for his lights and trickery. People that see Tiesto like to see the dj up there in front of them like some god. Gala nights areas are too small. Some people wouldn't be able to record him on their phones. As for Paul van dyke I was under the impression he'd finally retired. Trance is more suited to clubs with lasers it's the vibe the music gives that's why people use glow sticks and wear fluffy boots, it's suits the music. Fluffy boots and tutus does not go with house or techno. They go with more stripped back venues. But pacha is not like a giant space and I think can be made to look how you want it to because of the layout. Although that's changed. The renaissance nights always worked there for me and were probably dressed up differently to how Guettas nights are.

I Guess we will have to see in 2012!

Jamie Jones playing at Pacha.
What will we have next?

The Saturdays @ DC10? :?

What are you talking about? Typical (dare I say) "tourist" outsiders view of Pacha who confuses their commercial nights with other nights.

I was still going strong to Matthias Tanzmann in Pacha at 7.30AM last September! Yes, you read it that DC10 regular..... Matthias Tanzmann. What about Luciano, Seth Troxler, 2ManyDJs, Laurent Garnier etc.... OMG they play Pacha too in front of a trashed crowd!

Im getting so bored of dj and club brand bashing... I know I have been guilty of it in the past... and you wont see me paying 70euro a ticket to see Guetta at Pacha or anywhere.

Pacha is a beautiful club, and on the right night can really go off... i have had some amazing nights there.

I think Jamie Jones is ok... he's not one of my faves... but who cares? There are tooooo many people jumping on the Hater bandwagon, as soon as an artist gets good public criticism.

Why is this??? I just don't get it...

Last summer people were all over Jamie Jones... how he's topped a poll he's the anorak's worst enemy. Get over it and just enjoy the music.

Too much energy is wasted on 'why things are sh*t'... 'why vip areas are sh*t'.... 'why commercial dance music is s*it'.... etc etc.

So boring now.
