[quote="Conrado"red meat every two days (if you're a woman) or every three days (if you're a man). Do your weight training before doing your aerobic training. Work out every three days and rest one (to avoid overtraining).

That's part of the problem - my boyfriend is a veggie and we eat the same dinner, so rarely have meat now.[/quote]

Clara,

you should eat red meat regularly because women have periods and they loose some blood. Also, women are more suscetible to anemy than men. If you're anemic how can your blood supply your muscles with O2 and protein? Also avoid too much chicken, because they're treated with too many hormones that damage the women's balance.

If you don't want to eat red meat (you'll need it for the iron), you can try spinach or black beans and for protein, buy some whey protein or dehydrated egg whites. You should avoid dairies (specially whole milk), althought yogurt is okay. You should consume more soy (it's great for women), because it's a natural cathaliser for the production of HGH (human growth hormone).

Avoid: sugar, alcohol, fat and fried food.
Well, that about rules out most of my daily diet

You have no idea what it will do to your body if you completely eliminate it from your diet. Give it a try for two weeks and tell me later how you feel.

I actually eat very little sugar. However, I can't get by without a couple of beers at dinner time. And food has no taste without fat, and is usually even better when fried :D

I'm not so much "in tune" with the body, so I don't really notice how I feel no matter what I eat. The only downside is, I've got about 6 kilos I'd love to take off this frame that just won't go away.

The problem with alcohol is that it's too caloric (7kcal for each gram of alcohol). Besides, alcohol destroys proteins. You can see it for yourself: put a raw egg inside a glass with alcohol (any kind of alcohol, vodka for example), leave it for 15 minutes and take a look! You'll see the egg cooked buy the alcohol. That's exactly what alcohol is doing to your muscles.

So if you drink beer you have: high calories, brewering (carbs) --> bad quality of calories. Drinking is what will make it harder for you to loose all that extra weight. Of course fat tastes good, tell me one food that doesn't taste good with fat. But you can eat little fat during day time and avoid it by night.

Fried food should be avoided in any way: it's bad for your heart, for your blood presure, for your stomach and any food when fried has it's calories multiplied by 3. But you can get away with fat if you change butter for margarine (light) and oil for olive oil or canola oil. Moderate portions.

Thanks for the tips you two!

Conrado - I take multi vitamins with iron to avoid becoming anaemic.

My diet's pretty healthy at the moment, but the no-alcohol rule is the hardest, especially at weekends.

So what do you guys recomend is the best way to loose the midriff flab/tone it up :?: Alot of women (including myself) seem to have a "belly" that just seems difficult to reduce.

Unfortunately in most people fat on the stomach area is the last thing to go when shedding fat. You can't exactly isolate fat burning in one area either. The best thing to do is proper diet, cardio, and weight training. Avoid overtraining at all costs. Ensure you have days off to allow your body to recover. If you overtrain your body will start to hang on to every ounce of fat on you...making it even harder to lose fat, although you'll probably lose some muscle. :?

Rule #1: Your diet shold be nailed down before you tackle cardio and/or weights.

Argh, it's so confusing!

I go to the gym nearly every day during the week, but do a mixture of different classes so as not to tire any one group. Things like pilates, squash, boxfit, ab class, circuits and the treadmill. I don't do weights every day, so surely this is alright?

That's the way to do it.

I do weight 3 times a week but always with a day in between to rest the muscle groups.

I then intersperse with cardio and (like last night) swimming.

The only thing i'm lazy with is stretching, i just want to get in and back out - hopefully in under half hour.
