I've been scammed!

I've had the delightful task of being on the phone all day to my bank, trying to sort out the £800 worth of Ipods that have been ordered on my debit card without my knowledge

I only realised when I logged onto my internet banking this morning, I think someone has obviously cloned my card.

Now it gets even weirder... a box containing two brand new Ipods has just arrived at my mum and dad's house, it's our address, but with a man's name on it, and a contact number.
Plus the post office left a card saying there is another box due for collection too  Why would someone order the goods to my address? Could they be hoping to intercept the mail and take the boxes??

What could have happened here? My initial thought was that my card was skimmed/copied, either from an ATM machine or maybe in a bar/petrol station. But if that's the case, how would the goods have arrived at my address?

Then I thought maybe they've found a discarded receipt/statement and used that. But then how would they have ordered the goods online? Don't you need the 3 digit number on the back of the card?

I'm really confused as to how they have scammed me

I'm getting the money back as my bank have confirmed it as fraudulent, and I've got to take the Ipods into my local branch.

Ooooooooooh this sounds weird. I always think I have had my card scammed as my wages miracously disappear but then I realise its down to me...........

But anyway, how very odd. Its like why would you do credit card fraud then order the goods to the persons house. Like you say maybe they were hoping to get their hands on them somewhere, but how on earth would they do that if they are on a courier or something like that?

Inside job maybe from the courier service??

I'm just hoping no dodgy characters turn up at my mum's house trying to get all these fancy Ipods!

I wonder if they'd notice if I kept one for myself lol...

you should have kept the ipods and be quids in.

my mate got his card bill through,

£4000 cash advance at some post office in hounslow
£2000 cash advance a day later at same PO.
£450 for a purchase at some BMW/MINI dealership in Stevenage...

apparantly they called the card company to change his Password - TWICE!

:spank:

****ing thieving ****s.

Normally £259 in the shops.... for you, £300

They prob sent them to your address as it was the one the card was registered under. Just a thought.
This is probably true. I've tried on several occasions to order stuff from UK websites with a view towards picking it up on my next visit, but couldn't because they only deliver to your billing address (one reason I finally got a UK bank account!). It's a very common policy for UK online retailers... except Amazon, thankfully.

did you phone the number that arrived with it?
 Exactly what I was thinking. Call the number! Only do it after you've turned it over to the police...

Unfortunately my Dad had already signed for them, otherwise I would have gladly stashed them in my room and claimed no knowledge lol.

I think the suppliers have clocked on that it's a dodgy deal and sent them to the billing address.

I hope they catch the b.astard though!
