“I think they (the politicians) thought, if we shut down DC10 for instance, we deter a certain type of tourist that we’re not that interested in. And I think they were shocked by how many of the high-rollers - who come to the island in their private jets and boats, hire big villas and spend fortunes at restaurants and all the boutiques – by how popular a real grassroots club like DC10 was with them and everybody, including the islanders themselves.”

is he right or is it senile dementia??

right to an extent

the "high-rollers" go there because the scene tells them its cool to go there

if enough people told them that the West End was the coolest place on the island - they'd go there

When DC-10 "came out of the underground" (and I use that term loosely) in 2003, it was mentioned in Tatler magazine and had a quietly cool reputation as being the best club in the world (i.e. the next paradise garage legacy).

Space also - but for those trying to be cool this was a tad passe.

I think if the authorities start closing clubs it will change the whole dynamic of Ibiza as a holiday destination. Clubbing scene is part of what makes ibiza a special island. In the long term Ibiza could just become another mediterainian holiday destination.

However IMO it would be better if the season was longer so there wasn't peak periods where everywhere is so crowded & busy. Come on airlines sort out direct flights for 'the cool season'.
