Yes, I do like Bora Bora 8)

IMHO Benidorm’s clubs look like a tackier version of the West End :spank:
But if you like that sort of thing:

  • mechanical bull riders
  • "pop idol” karaoke
  • pre-parties with top football matches
  • dancers whirling till well past midnight
  • afternoon line dancing session
  • Happy Hour wicked mixes
  • family fun pub
  • 11.30am - 2.30pm and 8.30pm - 2.00am all year round except Tuesdays
  • big screens featuring action sports

Benidorm doesnt profess to be ibiza or as "trendy" as ibiza. Its all well and good saying how cool Cafe Del Mar is , but whilst you watch the sunset contemplating life, the universe and everything in it, imagine a family with kids- I think young kids would get rather bored rather quickly. So the type of things you listed are there to provide entertainment for this type of market. To come on a site that is actively promoting the resort , with a flippant comment is quite antagonistic if you ask me.

I have a family (Wife & Child) and I am in the proces of booking our 2007 trip to Ibiza.
We go to lots of places in Ibiza, from "cool" bars to local bars and resterants full of interesting times and people.

I was not having a pop at Benidorm, just it's night life.
But as I said, if you like that sort of thing:

  • line dancing session
  • dancers whirling till ('til) well past midnight
  • family fun pubs

Good for you, see you in the west end ;)

Pete, for the unitiated, could you explain why the cool bars you visit are more worthwhile than family fun pubs with line dancing?
 
Pete, Why is it that anything that is family orientated is deemed to be uncool?

What makes you so cool and trendy just because you dont like 'family entertainment', :lol:

Sorry but I find this is a bizarre thread.

OK Pete was non too diplomatic in making his point that he thinks Benidorm is crap. After all it is a sister website to Ibiza Spotlight.

But there have been many, many similar threads on here that have had similar themes. Re: taking the piss out of tacky nighlife - and everyone joins in with vigour.

Seems very inconsistent to me. He's just having a bit of a leg pull.
 
I was only talking about Benidorm’s bars / clubs.
The rest of Benidorm looks and sounds quite nice.

To me “pubs with line dancing and karaoke and Only fools and horses on the TVs” appeal to the lowest common denominator, people who on every Saturday night have 15 pints of xxx strong larger (because the can) then a kebab and a fight on the way home.

We have been to the West end in Ibiza several times and seen several fights and from the description of Benidorm’s bars / clubs they sound like they appeal to the same type of people.

I do like family entertainment but that was not the point I was making. I know Benidorm is not trying to be Ibiza and they can both appeal to two different types of people after very different holidays.

To me Ibiza is full of every type of bar, restaurant, café and entertainment but IMHO the best of Benidorm’s bars / clubs looked like the worst of Ibiza’s
