Is the rave really dead ?

A party on Sunday busted up by the cops but not before 2000 people turned up - police maintain they knew nothing about it before it happened  :

And another problem seems to have been raising eyebrows and dropping monocles recently in the shires .. whatever are things coming to ? 8O :

Yes.

Rave really did die. </end of>

But 17 years ago.

See CJA of 1994. Check out Castlemorton and all the thriving mini sound systems that existed within it (namely Eze Love, Turbo Unit, Pineapple Tribe, Exodus) and let me know if you've seen anything like it since. It occasionally bubbles up still but is extremely rare.

Since then, the music has become widely available in major retail outlets, pedalled out through big businesses (brand name clubs) controlled by licensing laws and class divides are now rife. It's no longer a counter culture (aside from the fact that people take drugs).

But still the core of it all, losing yourself in dance, is something that existed waaaaay before rave and will re-emerge in various forms by people claiming they invented it forevermore.

& I'd love to go dogging.

Must be hilarious. Any takers? I'll bring a flask and supply pot noodles for the duration.

We get loads of parked-up cars in the countryside around us. Have always been a bit suspicious of them.

If any of the young uns (Vic, etc) don't know what a rave is, google the video for 'It's A Rave, Dave'. ;)

I can't believe an opportunity to talk endlessly about dogging opportunities has cropped up and no one is taking the bait - on a Monday too. 8O

I've just always fantasized about nonchalantly chomping away on a smelly pot noodle whilst taking in the scenes.

...but being a city boy I don't have wheels.

Remember protesting against the CJA 1994 back in the day - only thing to ever get me actually out on the streets chanting !!

this VICE documentary is really good about the state of things NOW - well worth a watch.

Interesting to watch. The raves I've been to have both been really good fun.
Both were just about having fun (although there is always the criminal element, pick pockets and dealers) but in the main, we just let loose.

Big fan of the presenter of it, Clive Martin. He's done some good documentaries and writes some good articles.
