Is it ok to wear Speedo's

pmsl at this thread. I've noticed Continentals tend to wear speedos or underwear-type shorts on the beach. Basically it's mainly about tan lines, isn't it - that's the problem with boardies or longer shorts you end up bicolour so there's method in their madness.
But they are really horrid ! Probably better to go naked than to wear budgie-smugglers if that's the reason tho' .. ask your other half if she'd go along with that and join you. Then when she bottles it, you're off the hook !

Right... because when you switch back to non-beachwear, it's important that people can't see the tan lines, even if they would theoretically be well-covered by your shorts or pants

... not really - it's more that if you wear boardies in particular and stand up or swim most of the time you get very brown below the knee. Then if you sit on a bike, say, you end up a nice shade of white and brown .. same principle applies in the bedroom

Im really surprised at these comments because i always thought ibiza was the one place you could wear what you like and not care about it? I can honestly say I've never laughed at someone's attire in ibiza no matter what they wear. I think it's great that in ibiza wrinkly old men feel free enough to wear sparkly thongs! I am also trying to get my bf to wear small swimming shorts because I like ogling his bum and legs maybe that's why your girlfriend wants you to! he, like you, says I am trying to make him look gay 
I think if you wore them on playa den bossa beach nobody would notice its only when they strut around with their chest out in a look at me manner do speedo wearers look a bit silly in my personal opinion but even so, so what if they think they are lush they aren't hurting anyone!

Or, as I saw on a certain Northern beach a couple of years ago, a larger-than-life long-haired 60-something American dude in a mankini
No fashion prizes going out that day but it all added to the rather colourful mix. a certain lady once asked my friend who was wearing speedos.....
"have you stolen 2 of the pool balls"?

If she thinks you look good in speedos, all the best.
Think about it in reverse, if you were asking her to wear something to the beach you thought was hot and she thought was too revealing or she was too fat or some other stupid girl reason, you would be like "but it would be hot".
You are, in a sense being a girl here. Man up, take the embarrassment, and hold the high card for when you want her to wear something that she doesn't want to wear.

.. seriously, if you go to the quieter beaches away from the prance and oggle-fest that is PDB or Salinas it'll probably be much easier - no-one cares or is even looking at what anyone else is (or is not) wearing there.
