Is April too early...

... to start planning next year's Ibiza trip? Will be missing out this year due to World Cup commitments but find myself thinking about it all the time. At the weekend we were actually starting to discuss when to go, how long for and where we would like to stay. Think I might cry first time somebody posts photos from DC10 this summer.

Since I'm just in the process of booking this year's trip, I'm going to say yes, too early.

Then again, the Brits do tend to plan way far ahead :lol:
(does this apply to the Irish, northern or otherwise, as well?)

I think it's perfectly acceptable to start planning next years as soon as this years is over, flights etc won't be released til Oct at the earliest so looks like you've got a few months of waiting just yet.

There's no point going for a weekend from Belfast, you can't fly direct from here or Dublin. Don't think the budget would stretch to it anyway.
I'm an early planner anyway Morbyd, usually have something sorted for the following summer by Christmas. The first year we went we came home and booked again immediately. Don't think this is a Northern Irish trait though, we're generally a pretty disorganised bunch. I seem to have a natural affinity with the Germans so maybe that's where I get it from...

I suppose it all depends on whether or not there's some benefit to it.

I checked the airline prices a few months ago and booked today at the same prices. The rates for the hotel I'm planning to stay in haven't gone up or down in that period of time either.

In other words, there was no advantage to booking early. Only the disadvantage of being less flexible if something had come up in the interim (which I was afraid would happen, but in the end, has not).

If you're dealing with budget airlines, where there's an advantage to booking early, or maybe some package deals, then I guess it makes a difference.

Booked my June Ibiza trip in January;

Return flight - £140, Hotel Apartment - £150
Total = £290

Just checked today, same flight same hotel;

Return flight £216, Hotel Apartment £322
Total = £538

thats a huge saving of £248!!! 8O

So, yes we Brits do book early, especially when it makes that much difference. Glad I booked when I did. :p

I'm in shock :lol: :lol: :lol:

Sorry Mark, just joking, I'm known as a very organised travel planner and I just started now to think about or summer holidays, most of my friends will book in a month in advance or a couple of weeks 8O
Anyhow, if you know you are going and when are you going I would book as soon as possible cos the rates are definitly better.
Morbyd, I don't know which airlines you book or what system you use but it's very strange that the prices haven't gone up.

I'm flying on Aeroflot and Spanair. Booked directly through their websites. The prices are the same as they were a when I checked early this year.

My hotel's prices are the exact same as they were last year.

The trip is still 2 months away, though... I think that's plenty early to book!
