err.....No 8O

If you want to explore the island I wouldn't recommend one as there is too much danger of being knocked off on some of the roads.

If there are enough if you, hire a car between you....MUCH safer.

"is a moped a good idea"....no offense but i suspect u have had better ideas....there a f***ing death trap...id rather walk miles than get on one of them things over there

My mates hired on when we were in Ibiza in 2001. I thought I'd have a go, and before I knew it, the throttle got stuck and I flew over a 4ft high stone wall into this hedge at about 50 miles per hour! A man got out of his car and lent over the wall to see if I was ok, but luckily it was just bumps and bruises. Considering this was our first afternoon there, I didn't look very attractive on the beach for the rest of the holiday! ;):)

Luckily they never noticed the huge dent when the moped was returned, so he got the whole of his deposit back! :D

Moppeds are a big no if you don't ride it usually. Moppeds are no bicycles and Ibiza roads are not the best to ride safetly. Really, I use a mopped in my town every single day since 1997 but I don't think I would venture with one of this in Ibiza: too many tourists, too many rounds :?

between 89 and 96 me and my friends used to always hire mopeds.

Yes they are dangerous but also fun. We never had any crashes and we had bikes in the uk which gave us more experience than most people.

They are far cheaper than cars and give you more independance asyou don't all have to go to the same place at the same time.

Saying that i drive cars these days but i'm minted now and always go with the Mrs so its different.

You can't compare a bike with a mopped. The only thing in common is that both have two wheels :?

dont advise hiring mopeds, a friend of mine was killed in Ibiza in august 2000 on a moped, a van went through a red light and ran straight into him so please be careful

Silvia Sorry I meant a motor bike not a push bike. Some of us (not me) had also passed the motorbike test in the UK. That meant that we could all hire 250cc scramblers on a couple of occasions!

The crazy drivers but more dangerous is this sand dust on asphalt that makes it a no no.
Believe me, we spoke to a french doctor in the emergency, he told us the quality of the roads is the main problem.
I've been riding a ducatti for 10years and ibiza roads are very slippery.
Just be careful if you carry on and Please don't ride back from a club, it is really dangerous.
Have fun

Another thing to mention is that the asphalt in ibiza is different to the asphelt in the UK. As ibiza is hotter they have to make it more heat resistant which in turn makes it more slippery.

If you put your motorbike on its stand on asphelt in the UK on a very hot day it will sink into the road!

And usually the moppeds for rent have small wheels what make them more unestable. :!:

The companies make more money when you crash them because if you havent taken out insurance they cain you for damages. Happened to my friend in Greece last year on a quad bike.
