IRA Announces to End Armed Campaign

it is a good thing but yesterday where i live was all closed off cos of a bomb scare, a call was made to the metropolitian police in london, spooky thing was the suspicious package was left in the place where a real bomb was supposed to be left in 1998, we all thought it was a going away pressie from them!! the bomb squad had to blow up a car and everything!! Nightmare. I hope its over
 
It's probably because if there was a MAJOR terrorist outrage in this country (i.e. hundreds dead) every suspected terrorist in the UK wouldn't be able to fart without the security services finding out. Also, if such an outrage did occour what's betting some MP wouldn't try to propose a bill to introduce the death penalty for any convicted terrorist? The IRA had genuine political aims (as opposed to a hatred of everything that isn't like them), although their methods were abhorrent. Why carry on the fight when in effect they are facing the same potential enemy as us (i.e. arab terrorism)? It became a no-win situation for them.
