I want to buy Dom an ipod for Xmas, can anyone advise me the best/cheepest place to get one in London?

Apple has pretty tight controls on how much resellers can sell their products for, so even places like tesco sell them for the same price everywhere

I'd advise that you find a student, use their computer in their campus (it HAS to be on the university network) and buy it via the apple education store, this will save you 10%, or £20 on the 30gig ipod.

Otherwise try ebay for american ones, or any relative/friend going to the USA or any other country outside the EU for tax free ipods

I need high volume for the gym, otherwise i can hear the gym's own music (which is usually $hit!) over my player.

I don't know how you guys put up with those awful earbuds either :?

A nice slender pair of good quality Sennheiser's sound way better.

These are the best in-ear phones I've ever owned:

Amazing isolation and bass response - I might actually leave the cap on my ipod for fear of destroying my ears (or getting hit by a bus whilst crossing the road)..

I love these headphones, and I tend to listen to my ipod pretty loud, no idea if I'm going deaf yet... :?

but it is true that they do break quite quickly, I'm on my third pair in about 1.5 years, so it's not horrific, but can get pricey. I usually find that one of the buds just goes and stops playing anything.

There are much better players around than iPod for the same money, but if that's what you want try ...

Ok, means shopping online but i found both very helpful and will do price match. There are slightly cheaper sites, but most of them ship them in from on the continent etc which isn't ideal if you have a problem and need to return.

Good luck.

When I got Tom one Argos in Ealing  was about £20 cheaper than the Apple store but generally there's not much difference.
