Does anyone have any experience w/ the Altec Lansing inMotion IM3? I've read some decent reviews about it and the Logic IP106.

Any suggestions and/or comments?

Don't really see the logic of getting overpriced, designated iPod speakers.

I just bought a small pair of Sony speakers that I use for portable non-headphone listening. As for at home, just get a cable and plug your comptuer into your stereo.

The cool factor. I like the fact that most of them are about the size of a paperback book (extremely portable), run on 4AA batteries, and from what I've heard sound pretty good.

I use my iTrip for everything else, home stereo & car.

The reviews of Altec that I read suggested that it was pretty poor especially in bass reproduction as I believe most if not all battery-powered systems are. I popped for the JBL On Stage which produces a stunning sound IMO with lots of bass. It is portable but requires a mains power supply but is great for outdoors with a power extension. It got real design classic looks also.

A battery powered option is a must for me. I was leaning towards the JBLs until I realized they were AC powered only. :?

I bought the Logic 3 ones primarily for taking on trips so i haven't used it much but they seem to have a high quality of sound.

Good points with it are:

1. Price (compared to the Bose ones they are a steal and reviews on Amazon stated that the sound had very little difference between them)

2. Compact for travelling

3. Will charge your iPod while playing

4. Package comes with UK & European leads for mains power

5. Runs on batteries as well

6. Can synch with your PC easily and can line-in a CD player too.

Go to Amazon and check out the reviews for it - mostly 4 or 5 stars

I have the InMotion and really like it. It folds flat to go in your case and has a really funky little remote control that clips into the back.

i'm looking to pick up a pair of these myself, thanks for the heads-up.
The batteries seemingly last for hours as well, ideal for around the pool etc.
