IMS Ibiza announce Dalt Vila lineup

International Music Summit (IMS) today announce details of its greatly anticipated Ibiza Dalt Vila Event. IMS Ibiza is a three-day educational and inspirational thought leadership platform and leading authority on Electronic Music held annually in the dance music capital of the world.

This is a very special year, as 2017 marks the ten-year anniversary of IMS. The event was created by BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong and four industry partners, and has gone on to host IMS events in China (IMS Asia-Pacific), Los Angeles (IMS Engage) and the recent addition of IMS College in Malta – an educational-platform for electronic music. The platform has been described as “the TED of music conferences” and has been responsible for leading initiatives that has resulted in change in the industry including the creation of the AFEM: Association for Electronic Music, the global trade body which promotes, protects and preserves the legacy and future of the genre.

In homage to this legacy, for the annual event at the 2,500 year-old fort Dalt Vila, Ibiza’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site, IMS Ibiza has curated a series of back-to-back performances to create a truly unique show. With many of the artists playing together for the first time, look out for house music legends Kenlou aka Masters At Work’s Louie Vega and Kenny ‘Dope’ Gonzalez performing two sets – one with The Martinez Brothers and the other with Resident Advisor’s Top 100 DJ Poll winner Dixon. IMS co-founder and BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong plays alongside Nicole Moudaber, B.Traits with Jesse Rose, and to close, Tale of Us perform with Maceo Plex.

IMS co-founder Ben Turner states: “This lineup is by far our strongest in our ten years. We are honoured to bring in legends Masters at Work to be a big part of IMS this year and to see the likes of Dixon and The Martinez Brothers jump at performing with them has been amazing. We have a lot of special plans to celebrate ten years, most involve looking forwards not back! We are, of course, hugely appreciative of the full support IMS receives from the industry and artist community of the past decade.”

With the multitude of parties occurring on the island each summer, IMS’s Dalt Vila is a rare opportunity to witness the island from this exclusive vantage point.

Ibiza, 9th March 2017 (Toga Media).- International Music Summit (IMS), the three-day educational, inspirational and motivational thought-leadership platform held annually in the dance music capital of the world, Ibiza, today announce it’s first speakers for this very special tenth anniversary year of the summit. The platform, described as “the TED of music conferences”, has been responsible for leading initiatives that have resulted in positive change in the industry and continues to set the agenda for electronic music in Europe, North America and now Asia.

Paying homage and firmly marking 10 years of connecting the culture, IMS Ibiza reveal 10 keynotes. The summit presents a carefully curated programme of inspiring talks, technology masterclasses, networking opportunities and cutting edge events, led by skilled experts, experienced music business minds and established artists.

IMS is proud to bring Bernard Sumner from New Order back to Ibiza – where he wrote the entire lyrics to their ‘Technique’ album in a much-documented recording session on the island in 1988/89. Ibiza, 16th March 2017 (Toga Media).- International Music Summit (IMS) recognise and pay homage to Ricardo Urgell founder of Pacha Ibiza and the worldwide Pacha Group with the prestigious IMS LEGENDS AWARD. This special award is bestowed upon true pioneers in the electronic music world for their outstanding contribution to the industry. 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the Pacha Group and the award fittingly commemorates this. Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of IMS Ibiza and a special moment for the summit, the award recognises the influence and inspiration that Pacha has generated in the international clubbing and music industry. Previous winners of this accolade have included Nile Rodgers, Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong, Sven Vath and Carl Cox.

IMs co-founder Ben Turner says: “Ibiza is defined by Pacha. It is the venue that seduced myself and all of my IMS partners in some way, with most of us collaborating with the brand over the last 20 years. Ricardo Urgell is a true maverick, a true conductor of the night and with it one of the most poetic and imaginative creatives in nightlife - period. The global electronic music scene would be very different today without his influence and the joy his truly global brand has given to millions of people around the world, let alone the careers of many DJ’s who made their name under the roof of the cherry logos. We are proud to honour him in this way. His influence extends way beyond nightlife, but to global culture as a whole.

Late in 1967 a small discotheque in Sitges located on the Barcelona coast opened its doors, it was to be called Pacha. Founded by Ricardo and brother Piti Urgell they set out to create a place where people could have fun, express themselves and throw the best parties ever. Six years later in 1973 the burgeoning club concept arrived in Ibiza and arguably the standard was set and one of the best clubs in the world was created.

Now 50 years on the famous Pacha cherries are a world-famous symbol of musical integrity, world class DJs, glamour and lifestyle. In this time, through hard work the brand has seen huge expansion to some of the most exciting places in the world, now situated in many countries worldwide including China, Australia, Macau, Germany, and in the most important Spanish regions and cities Ibiza, Gran Canaria, Mallorca, Barcelona and, La Pineda. It is also a hotel brand and a global merchandise phenomenon.

Ricardo Urgell says "With much hard work over five decades I never lost sight of my vision, I have had the pleasure of creating some very special places around the world where several generations of people have been able to enjoy the rhythm of the dancefloor. I cannot be prouder to see how the Pacha Group is recognized worldwide, and my great desire for the 50th anniversary of the brand is that the cherries survive and continue to bring people pleasure, as they have done so far throughout history."

The award will be the pinnacle of the IMS Legends Dinner presented by Smirnoff Sound Collective and Diario de Ibiza, held in celebration of Ricardo, and he will be interviewed by Juan Suarezfrom the Diario de Ibiza on the stage. Naturally the dinner will take place at Pacha Ibiza on the 24th May 2017. This night also marks the opening of the tenth anniversary of IMS Ibiza with special guests Masters at Work, The Black Madonna and Agoria performing after the dinner at the official IMS Opening Party.

Vitalik Recordings is a very Ibiza affair. Label boss Ryan O Gorman being one of the islands most enduring resident djs and promoters. He invites label mates and co-Ibiza stalwarts System Of Survival and Clive Henry to represent the label at Pikes on the 26th. As part of the IMS program the event also acts as the carry-on for the big finale at Dalt Vila so expect a colourful mix of island locals and the international music set…. with a couple of special surprises to boot!
