from thursday on i will be doing army services again...luckily it's only for 3 weeks, but still - i hate it. we'll be only doing useless bullsh1t!

so i won't be online for a few weeks...statemi bene!! ;)

So... uh... Nostrum.... do they really hand out those fancy knives to you guys or is that just a marketing ploy? :lol: ;)

yes morbs, we have to do such a "repetition course" (as they call it...:roll: ) once a year.

yes, we really get them. i see you guys are keen on them? ;) :lol: every army-member here has to be in posession of such a knife. so, you get one, but if you lose it, you have to buy one...

you're speaking of the swiss guard, right? well, first off, you have to be catholic to be able to be a member of the swiss guard (i'm not catholic) and yes, you have to be a very good soldier. but i'm really not into that stuff.

Ok, well if we can't get photos, could you at least swipe us a couple of those fancy knives then? ;)

what do you like so much about them? i always ask myself what's so special about them...for me, they're like the most normal thing in the world, because we've always had these knives round here... well i could maybe buy one for you, if you really want one ;)
 
getting your first proper Victorinox knife was a rite of passage in my Scout group

Scary that at 12 you used to be able to walk into a high street shop and buy a knife, no questions asked
 
The soldiers get to keep their guns at home. That's specific to Switzerland.
The real swiss knife is from Wenger.
There's a capacity of mobilizing 600.000 troops in 24 hours.

thats prob what the 3 weeks of Army training is about. 24hrs on sitting on a white picket fence with nothing but Milka Chocs and a pen knife :lol:
