Ibiza, 3rd March 2016 (Toga Media).- International Music Summit is excited to announce details for IMS Ibiza 2016’s speakers and industry icons, as well as details of regular IMS scheduling. From the May 25th – 27th, IMS Ibiza is built around a programme of live talks, debates, master classes and parties. The three-day event welcomes a massive first reveal of the IMS year with 20 iconic artist and 20 complementary industry leaders announced as speakers for IMS Ibiza at the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza. IMS continues its reign as the premier platform for thought and innovation within the electronic music scene.

IMS Ibiza receives a special treat with a very rare speaking appearance from the Pet Shop Boys, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe for The Pete Tong Interview. The duo will be celebrating a monumental 30 years of making music in 2016, making this interview spotlight a very special appearance for the entire electronic music community. The UK pair will discuss their prolific three decade long career in detail, including tales behind their legendary remixes from artists across the board, from David Morales to the KLF and Shep Pettibone.

Another rare public appearance arrives at IMS Ibiza in the form of Swiss electro-pioneers Yello, comprised of Dieter Meier and Boris Blank. Responsible for the anthemic 1985 record ‘Oh Yeah’ and wildly respected for their offbeat and wildly creative approach to production, Yello have played a pivotal role for electronic music’s trajectory over the past 35 years.

Ben Turner, IMS Co-Founder and Curator, states: “Pet Shop Boys and Yello are both visionary acts that have taken electronic music worldwide with a pioneering, but populist approach. We’re proud to have Chris Lowe, Neil Tennant, Deiter Meier and Boris Blank all in attendance at IMS Ibiza this year. 2016 showcases our biggest list of artist speakers to date for IMS Ibiza, and in addition, our flagship event will also bring some amazing industry icons to introduce the perspective not often heard in our daily working lives."

Island icons Carl Cox and Richie Hawtin – individually responsible for two incredible Space residencies, ‘Music is Revolution’ and ‘ENTER.’ respectively – will also be spotlighted in special interview sessions at IMS Ibiza. Cox will discuss his closing year at Space with club owner Pepe Roselló and his manager Lynn Cosgrave while Hawtin plans to share his insight on the developing realm of music technology.

House legend Erick Morillo returns to IMS Ibiza for a candid discussion with Pete Tong to offer insight from his extensive career and life experiences. Specifically, Morillo will address the cyclical nature of the music scene and the powerful resurgence he’s now poised to command.

Detroit’s Seth Troxler and Haçienda legend Dave Haslam will host a very special listening session together following the news of Troxler’s purchasing of Haslam’s 4,500 strong record collection in November. Guy Gerber, who popularized his Rumors party and established it as a staple of the Ibiza party calendar in 2015 is slated to bring valuable insight to IMS Ibiza. Also confirmed for IMS Ibiza are two acts also featured on the IMS Dalt Vila lineup: Italian duo Tale Of Us who will make their speaking debut at IMS and Dubfire ahead of the Ibiza debut of his live HYBRID show.

MOOD Records label boss and the ‘Queen of Dark Techno’ Nicole Moudaber joins the conversation at IMS Ibiza dually as both a worthy speaker and a performer at IMS Dalt Vila. Progressive Radio 1 broadcaster B.Traits will return after bringing her engaging ‘State of Mind’ panel to IMS Ibiza last year that tackled the difficult, but necessary subject of the relationship between dance music and drug use. Fellow BBC Radio 1 DJ and Dance Anthem’s presenter Danny Howard will also make his IMS debut in 2016.

Los Angeles-based Jason Bentley represents the American radio front as the Music Director for the leading Southern California station KCRW. Fellow Prominent promoter behind HARD Presents Gary Richards, also known through his performing alias Destructo, will also represent the West Side of the United States with his IMS debut in 2016.

In addition to 20 artists, 20 industry icons spanning across a wide variety of positions within the electronic music scene have been announced as speakers for IMS Ibiza. Ranging from agents and club owners to promoters and journalists, IMS Ibiza continues to pave the way for open conversation for the industry as a whole. Former Universal executive and CEO of the heavily tipped music social network Crowdmix Rob Wells will be speaking amidst plans for the platform’s forthcoming launch in May. Crowdmix, one of the most buzzed about start-ups in the industry, aims to enable users to develop and enjoy rich social media experiences by joining crowds and communities of like-minded people using music as the link. Already, the platform has built up a team of 160 in its London office.

Kenny Gates, Co-Founder and CEO of one of the world’s leading independent music companies PIAS, will share his insights from over 30 years in the industry. Legendary owner and founder of Space Ibiza Pepe Rosello has been at the helm of the club since its inception in 1989, making him a qualified leader and pioneer of the island. Also speaking is founder of R&S Records Renaat Vandepapeliere, Jacobi Calthorpe, a promoter of the Houskeeping party brand, comedian and internet star Dear Morni, or Austin Gebbia, a witty 20-year old who went viral with his satirical look at the underground music realm on his Instagram, Executive VP of Global A&R at Warner Music Group Bart Cools and many more.

News of this year’s speakers also arrives with the confirmation of regular IMS event details, following the unveiling of the iconic IMS Dalt Vila party that will take place on Friday 27th of May at the island’s historic UNESCO World Heritage site. Other events on the schedule include the IMS Business Report for 2016, IMS’ live showcase Back2Live and the prestigious Legends Dinner which will be held on opening night with various networking sessions hosted by Ultra Records and Pioneer DJ. This year, the IMS Pioneer Award will return. Previously, the award has awarded to long-term manager of industry greats Frankie Knuckles and David Morales Judy Weinstein. Finally, the IMS Visionaries contest returns, which seeks to unearth and encourage the next generation of industry leaders.

IMS Ibiza names Space owner Pepe Roselló as this year’s IMS Legend

Ballantine’s Scotch whiskey will present the IMS Legends Dinner in Honour of Pepe Roselló on Wednesday 25th May

Wednesday 25th May
9pm – Midnight
Space Ibiza Terrace

Ibiza, 9th May 2016 (Toga Media).-International Music Summitcan now reveal that Space Ibiza owner, Pepe Roselló has been named as 2016’s recipient of their coveted ‘Legends’ award. Given to a pioneer in the electronic world each year, previous winners include Nile Rodgers, Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong and Carl Cox, with the celebratory banquet set to take place on Space’s legendary terrace onWednesday 25th May – a fitting location for dinner guests to see the club for one last time before it draws its final curtain.

Presented by Ballantine’s Scotch whiskey, the IMS Legends Dinner will celebrate Pepe and his 27-year legacy of Space. Widely regarded as one of the most recognized and respected businessmen of the Balearic Islands,Pepe Roselló was born in Ibiza in 1937 and has spent a lifetime dedicating himself to the world of musical entertainment and is a true embodiment of what the award honours. Previously the Second Major of San Antonio, Pepe established his club owning career with the San Antonio club, Playboy, in 1963 before taking over the reigns at Space in 1989 - and has gone on to build the venue into a musical Mecca for tens of thousands partygoers today.

Having been behind the club’s trajectory for almost three decades, Pepe’s initial bookings of techno and trance legends Sven Väth and Marc Spoon have been intrinsic to the club’s success. From there on in, parties were only getting bigger and better, with Sasha, Richie Hawtin, Steve Lawler, Dave Seaman, John Digweed and Carl Cox to name a few all hosting parties. Its cornerstone residency ‘Sundays at Space’ proved to be one of the world's most celebrated and loved club nights, and showcased the world’s most exciting electronic music talent through marathon day to night parties each week. Built upon an ethic of love and togetherness, Sundays at Space undoubtedly played a pivotal role in shaping the patterns of behaviour of the entire island and only re-affirms Space’s position as a taste-making institution. For the past two decades, the club’s opening and closing parties have signaled the beginning and the end of the Ibiza season.

During his 27-year reign at Space, Pepe has always brought innovative ideas to the table and has always strived for Space to be the number one destination for dance music lovers. The emergence of the club has helped place Ibiza as the ultimate clubbing destination, with the finest DJ’ing talent consistently gracing the decks - and have all equally expressed their love for the club.Undoubtedly, Pepe Rosellóis one of the key parts of the engine that drives the island.

IMS co-founder Ben Turner states: “The closing of Space as envisioned and run by Pepe Rosello is the end of an era for Ibiza and a fascinating changing of the guard of the old-school Spanish-owned discotheques of Ibiza. It will be a different island without Space. Pepe’s passion and love for music has been there for all to see with his regular appearances in the DJ booth at key moments and he became that rare thing: a night-club owner that the clubbers applauded as much as the DJ. Pepe has done so much for Ibiza creatively and politically and he truly deserves this accolade from the electronic music industry and from IMS.”

International Music Summit now finalises its schedule of iconic guests and speakers for the ninth IMS Ibiza programme, with the panel revealed for this year’s diversity discussion in association with Shesaid.so.

At the forefront of the conversation at this year’s IMS Ibiza will be the issue of gender equality within the electronic music genre. The discussion returns this year and is held in association with Shesaid.so – a carefully selected network of women with active roles in the music industry. This is the third time IMS curator Ben Turner has presented this discussion. The panel will be a highlight of the event, promising a full and frank discussion; with keynote speakers taking part consisting of B. Traits, Media Nanny CEO José Woldring, Motive Unknown Director Lucy Blair, Senior Agent of CAA Maria May and prominent artist and label boss Nicole Moudaber.

Ben Turner states: “We have a huge responsibility to reflect the industry we work in fairly and accurately. IMS has actually put this debate on the table more than most and I made a commitment late last year - to a number of women in our genre - that I would run this panel every year until the time comes when we don’t need to speak about it again. I hope that day comes soon for the right reasons. Thanks to the likes of Shesaid.so, people are addressing the situation positively and we hope that IMS can help amplify their platforms. We need to encourage more women into the genre, and into positions of seniority. Also, we somehow need to encourage those in positions of seniority to be prepared to use their voice more to help inspire the next generation.”

With all the panels now assembled and the latest additions confirmed, this meeting of minds will once more take in a broad selection of contributers from across electronic music. Film, documentary and music video director Julien Temple joins the cast with insight from across a career spanning back to the 1970s, working with diverse acts the likes of The Sex Pistols, Ray Davies and Madness, also covering divergent topics including the ‘Motor City’ in Requiem For Detroit? Temple announces exclusively at IMS full details about his new film project based on the island of Ibiza.

Joining a lineup already full of prominent artists are Joseph Capriati and Kölsch. The former is well known for being one of the driving forces behind the explosion of Marco Carola’s ‘Music On’ nights at Amnesia in Ibiza; a cultivated resident, he is now an internationally in-demand headline act. In the year that Capriati leaves Music On to join Paradise by Jamie Jones, he talks to IMS about the issues facing the Italian club scene with recent drug deaths and forced closures. Meanwhile, Kolsch hardly needs an introduction – his unique, emotive production style, as evidenced by his two landmark albums 1977 and 1983, means he is loved by critics and newcomers to the genre alike.

IMS Ibiza has also made space for a particularly special speaker on a subject close to Pete Tong’s heart; composer and conductor of the Ibiza Prom Jules Buckley. The prodigious musician has an ear for non-classical crossover, which has led to him working with Basement Jaxx, Massive Attack, Cinematic Orchestra and scores of others. Together, they performed at the Royal Albert Hall as a counter-culture performance to the main BBC Proms. It was a huge success and Tong has since announced shows at London’s 02 and Manchester Arena. The former sold 15,000 tickets in one day!

The industry is roundly in attendance with a roll call of top figures; amongst the latest and final speakers is the founder of Spinnin’ Records, Eelko van Kooten. With some forty sub-labels and branches into almost every element of electronic music, Eelko has spent 17 years at the forefront of the scene. Another musical entrepreur with a diverse background in dance music is Matthew Adell – the former CEO of Beatport, former Vice President at Napster, MusicNow.com and Wax Trax! Records, who is currently pioneering the ‘momentous’ in music with MetaPop.com. Eric Zho, one of China’s most commercially influential entertainment executives, will talk about IMS Asia-Pacific as it prepares to move to Shanghai.

Additional names for the final release are as follows:

Joseph Capriati (Artist, Italy)
