Hi Guys,

A Symbian virus is doing the rounds called Comm warrior, it comes into your phone as a message with an attachment, the e-mail can say many different things as to why to open the attachment and in most cases will come from someone you know.

If you open the attachment it will send the virus into your handset, it then randomly sends out text & mms using your contacts in your phone with the virus attached. And will keep doing this. Which is why it is picked up so quickly because it comes from a friend or colleague.

How to deal with it:

If it happens, first thing to do is switch your phone off, you can take your USIM out and put into another phone while you sort the problem out. (From what is known it does not effect the USIM).

When you are back at home/office log your PC/laptop on to the internet and connect your phone (with USIM) to the PC using the USB connection.
Go to this web site: http://www.f-secure.com./ (You will need to have set up either your 6630 or 6680 CD ROM software that came in the box)

When on the website on the Top bar, 4th option along click on Downloads options

Scroll down to the handhelds section and click on the link

Under downloads their is a link for "anti virus software" click on this

The first thing you need to do is click on Removal tool for Commwarrior worm under the "Removal Tools"section. Select Open and update to your phone straight away

Then under the software section click on "F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus ", choose the F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus for Nokia 6600, 6630, 6670, 6680, 6681, 7610, 6260 and 3230 this gives you a free 30 day trial. select Open, and this should also set up straight to your phone

General rules to consider:
1. Do Not accept applications sent from untrusted sources or that arrive in an unsolicited manner. Same as unsolicited e-mails on your PC

2. Take heed of security warnings on your phone

This virus went through our place on Friday and over the weekend and this is a copy of the email I received from our network security team so NOT a chain letter.
