If you found...

Something of value on the floor i.e a wallet/mobile phone/jewellry etc... would you hand it in to lost property?

Today I found a diamond ring on the floor of the ladies changing rooms at the gym today, and I gave it into lost property  :D

I would HATE to lose my ring, jewellery has so much sentimental value. I didn't know whether the ring was expensive or not, but if it meant a lot to someone, I'd like to think that I heklped them get it back.

But when I found a mobile phone on the floor in Ikea a couple of years back, I kept it.

My view is... if I had given the phone in, it would only have been taken by a spotty 17yr old teenager who works there on the weekends.

Discuss!

I'd like to think I'd hand everything in, as I know how annoying it can be losing something. Even a phone, as I've lost a few before and its been a nightmare

Nah, coz there was more than one person at the reception when I gave it in, and they wrote it all down in a log book.

And they werent spotty 17yr old scallywags.

OK, they nominated a person to take it to the pawn shop and now they are just about to split the cash and rip the page from the log book!

My point, you just never know!

When i was young (under 12) i used to find literally loads of valuable things, wallets stuffed with cash all the time, rings, briefcases, the police station in my village got to know me as i used to hand so much in!!!

Never find anything now, and whenever i've lost anything i've never got it back and it's never been handed in  Wheres the karma in that then

Also, I was at a cashpoint once about a year ago. As I went to put my card in, a massive wad of cash came out of it! About £300!!! 8O I didn't know what to do, I panicked because there were people behind me who had seen it happen, so I walked inside and gave it in  Now I think about it I should have just done a runner! It have come out of the bank's pocket anyway wouldn't it?

Once went to a bank in Tunis to change a £20 travellers cheque and the woman handed us back around £3000 8O

Thought it prudent to return it immediately as i wanted to return home with both hands.

:?

you did right to hand it in!!

it may have just been a bit of glass, but again someones engagement ring, so well done!!! ;)

re the mobile though.....can see your point but you should've handed it in!!!

yeah, not only that but out there, you could've been nicked by the local plod and banged up indefinately, no trial, no lawyer and your arse would have got the kind of abuse that Stuie can only dream about....you did right!!!

Being jinxtastic I lost a watch, and more recently had my purse lifted
As you say its the sentimental value that matters, as was linked to my watch and items in my wee purse.

(Adopts Buddist pose and mantra for some karma to envelope me)

if i found i watch ring phone etc i rekon id hand it in, but money? id probably keep, sayin that however i work in a nightclub and often find purses that women av lost and allways give it to reception without takin anythin our, however with much descussion with bouncers i found out they empty all wallets n purses before people ask for em back so on recosinderation i rekon i may keep money in future so they dont get it! i rekon its a spur of the moment thing tho, if someone hands me money and walks off without the change i keep it, but the other day some guy handed me what he thaught was a screwed up £10 note but was infact 2 £10 notes i cudda easily kepts one as he was too f***ed up to notice but i didnt i gave it back? why? i dont no just happened...lookin bak on it now....wish id taken it!
