Hope someone can help me out. Thinking about going to Ibiza for the first time. Have avoided it before cos I thought the music would be too hard and techy or just for trance lovers. Not that I'm against all that its just not my style. Are there any parties for deep and soulful house heads in Ibiza? Don't want to waste my money coming to a place where the soul isn't alive. Thanks in advance.

Do you mean stuff like Louie, Kenny, Krivit etc?? Milk n2 Sugars is on at El Divinos on Monday night - they had guests like that last year. Also Defected will have the odd guest like MAW thru-out the summer, a lot of their line-ups are pretty weak tho imo but you might hit a lucky week. Def Mix on Saturdays @ Pacha also gets the likes of Knuckles, Morales etc. Soul Heaven have been on the island in previous years at El Divinos and Pin-Up but haven't done anything for a couple of years now.
Soulful house isn't massive in Ibiza anymore (eg Space on a Sunday used to attract more soulful guests but has changed its policy in recent years) but there will still be the odd night to satisfy your soulful needs.
Like Babs said, its Def mix, defected and MN2S that you wanna go to mate.
Thats my kind of thing too, and i always find more than enough... go to those nights, and have a bit of variety on others. Sanchez usually starts his sets very deep and soulful, then gets heavier later on...

I am into the same type of music, and had many of the same fears about Ibiza- that it would be all trance/electro/etc. - I was wrong. M&2S, Def Mix, etc. are all good choices for soulful house - also, I stumbled into the back (global?) room at Eden one night and they were playing really deep, Shelter-style music...For me though, the greatest thing was experiencing new music/DJs/styles that I might not go to at home- Just keep an open mind - the size/quality/sound/crowds/ambiance/etc. of the big clubs (well, most of them) will draw you in- heck, this year I am even going to Cream (just don't tell my friends in NY)
the terrace on cream nights is very housey.............soulful maybe depending on who is playing.

I too will be hitting MN2S etc when i hit the island mid to late August.... deep and soulful is what im all about.. defected have the odd good guest that may be worth checking out too. If your about on the 20th Aug or 23rd Aug be sure to look out for me as its the style i play... ill be playing for hustle at Itaca and Cafe es Paradis by looks of things
