IF THEY CLOSE BORA BORA, I'M NEVER GOING AGAIN!!

To be honest, what with the new development (which is so imposing) just by Bora Bora, it was always on the cards that it might be closed down.

Oh and the fact that it's free and detracts for the other places.

For the past few years we have based our entire visits around the place. Without it, I can see little reason for going back. The big clubs take the proverbial and offer little in return. The bars in Ibiza town are a rip off and fairly s*** anyway. The sunset strip is a tourist spot for chavs & westenders. OK u have the beaches, but are they so much better than beaches elsewhere? DC10 & Underground can hold themselves high, but they 2 are sliding down the commercial slope and don't offer enough to justify a visit to the island.

The authorites see Ibiza as a future Cannes/Monaco type playground for the rich & famous and wish to develop this. Closing a hedonistic venue such as Bora Bora could be seen as a step towards the clean up, but in doing so they will be losing one of their best assets. Many upper quartile clubbers from across the globe (their bread & butter!) will be discouraged from visiting.

The sunset strip is a tourist spot for chavs and westenders? What exactly has Bora Bora become? Are you another one of those been to 'Ibiza twice before and know it all crowd', or do you get your opinions from magazines? Do you only go somewhere if it is regarded 'cool and in' like 1/2 the other people who flock to Playa Den Bossa, a down market German tourist resort? DC10 and Underground? What, because they are supposed to be underground?Interesting to hear your thoughts.

I notice people are more othered about this than the change in law that has impacted the Wips terrace? Now that is underground!!

gotta agree there dude.

Mambo kicks ass - it might be on the more laid-back - no dancing on tables side but if every bar was like Bora-Bora then Bora-Bora would be shizz.

Think of the people that play Mambo :

Deep Dish
David Morales
Erick Morillo
Darren Emerson
Roger Sanchez
Laurent Garnier
We Love.. crew

the list is endless and most are as good as/better than/cooler than Gee and his middle-aged spread :D

;)

It likes comparing chalk and cheese, but some people dis places purely because they are popular.

As stated, Mambo has the worlds top DJs and Cafe Del Mar plays the best sunset set in the world. People slate it because a lot of people go there, there is never any mention of the crowds of cheesy tourists at Bora Bora dancing with their speedos on? Far worse if you ask me.

You take Bora Bora out of PDB and what is left? Space? One club? I think it will have a very negative impact on the whole of PDB. The place bores me as it is, but each to their own. Nice to spend a day or something, but would hate to stay there.

We weren´t impressed when we went to Bora on tuesday & there wasn´t any music!!!!

It just wasn´t the same  . We also went Sunday & it was sterling.

We hope to go again before nxt Saturday-what a great place ;)

But what i don't get is why the place next door is allowed to play music?

And what kind of music? Absolute CRAP! It's not a ban on music, it's a ban on any place that clubbers like and that's not a member of the disco mafia. Sounds like a way to encourage us not to come to the island any more.

Tahiti? Yep, it's very annoying. It's so blatent why this has happened as if it really was due to noise, they'd close everywhere. Anyway, the terrace at Space is way more noisy (and during the night too) but obviously that won't be closed.

Dirk: as has been discussed before, PDB is popular due to its location. I actually stayed on the border between PDB and Figueretes this year (Es Vive) and it was perfect walking distance to Ibiza Town and Space in the opposite direction. I still went over to San Antonio plenty of times though both for pre-clubs and Curry Club.

The reason why I don't think you can compare Mambo with Bora Bora is whilst Mambo is a decent bar with some of the biggest name djs in the business, it's still geared up to sitting at a table and you feel a bit cheap if you sit by the rocks and don't buy a drink from there whereas you can quite happilly sit on a towel in front of Bora Bora for several hours during the day or at night and never spend a cent in there.

I cant believe people arent going to go to ibiza anymore because bora bora is closing.. I think you need to open you're eyes a bit.

Dirk you've long been a fan of staying in San Antonio but mate wake up and face the music: San An is shite.

The last time I went to Ibiza I visited Mambo's once and yes it did have a great DJ playing. But so what! It was full of stuck up pricks from council estates in Manchester sitting around drinking beer out of a straw looking around for the next DJ to f***. I have no wish to spend any time sitting down in a crappy bar with these idiots.

We got the f*** out of there and returned to PDB where the vibe was older; okay a little cheesier; but infinitely better. There was a bigger mix of people from all over the world, everyone was on a happy buzz and dancing together, nobody gave a shit if you were Brandon Block or Roger Sanchez: they were just getting down to the tunes and having a good time.

Meanwhile back in San An, Chavsters have just snorted another wrap of sugar and are moving in on Princess Snooty to see if she would like to come into the toilets with them for another line. Of course she won't, because Chavster doesn’t earn a living by hauling around a metal box filled with vinyl.

Closing Bora Bora is a foolish move as it is so well known all over the world.

Do the Ibiza government truly believe they can turn their island into another Monaco? It has got some nice architecture but in reality the hotels are pretty shite, most of the buildings are shite, it's nowhere near as classy as they think it is and if they kill the club culture, which is what attracts the jet-set anyway, it will kill the island.

The only thing they should be doing is firebombing San Antonio and the surrounding countryside; now that should smarten up the place.

And as for that egg….

the surrounding countryside, once you get out of san antonio is lovely, there are some nice beaches around there. cala salada to name just one.

ha, ha,....its a real kindergarten here..maaaaaaaammmiiiiii theyve closed bora bora,.......huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will NOT eat my soup until the reopen it!!!!!!!!!!! bäääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääähhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Great analysis Venom! Most of us in the know never go to San An, because we already know it's full of British idiot types snorting up charlie and trying to pick up Princess Snooty as you correctly point out. (nothing against all the nice folks from UK, who frequent other parts of the island).

Anyway we are the jet set, so the politicians and disco mafia can go *beep* themselves as the tourist revenues will take a southward turn. It's not bad going to Pacha VIP, but larging it in the company of 50% cokeheads, 40% party people at an expense of >100 € per person is also well possible in other parts of the world. I'd have plenty of fun for the same money e.g. in Tokyo. DC10 and other less commercial places with amazing atmosphere such as Bora Bora are what sets Ibiza apart from any other party destination in the world. Close them down and the difference narrows greatly.

Could someone write a complaint letter in good Spanish that we could sent to the authorities?

I think most of clubbers only see that Ibiza, but the island attracs more kinds of tourism. 8O I always consider the island as a destination if I look for somewhere beautiful for beach relaxing holidays.

'Those in the know?' I have been to Ibiza more times than I care to mention. I have gone to Ibiza since I was a kid and have seen it change over the years.

It's people who dis San An and still base their impressions on Ibiza Uncovered that p1ss me off. Cheezy Chavs are a very small minority, whilst the rest of San An is made up of a mixture of all cultures. I feel some people are scared of San An and dont like to admit it.

When San An is back in vogue and the tables are turned, dont try and tell me that you have always liked the place. People who base their holiday on the 'coolest places to go' are sad individuals.

Venom, you said it all mate. PDB is a cheezy toursit resort not even worthy of being in Ibiza.

San An atractions? The list is endless. Why do you think Pikes over looks the place? What about Wips for that international feel - cannot be beaten and p1sses all over Bora Bora!!

PDB? Now only Space? I'll get a cab.

exactly. Just look at mine and robo's parents for an example of this. Both having been coming here for years (robo's more so) and make around 4 visits or more every year. They know not to come at the peak of the season though.

Er, one of the best clubs in the world... it's free... drinks are cheap... only place u will hear the enitire spectrum of house during a night... attracts people from all over the globe... atmosphere is second to none... unlikely to spot a pair of reebok classics...

I've DJ'd in Coastline, Savannah's Funky Room and Kanya. I don't mind the sunset bars, but to compare them to Bora Bora is a joke!! Mambo attract good DJs, but u can't really dance, there's little atmos & the music isn't very loud. Kasbah is a nice restaurant, but 18EUR for a penne pasta is a joke as is the thought of lining Judge Jokes pockets! 8O

Are you another one of those been to 'Ibiza twice before and know it all crowd', or do you get your opinions from magazines?

No, I've been a regular since Ibiza was opened by Judge Jules in 1999. Just kiddin'. Been going since 1994 and have seen many changes. Are u one of these people who think you can only judge or pass comment if you have been going four times a year for the last ten years?! I get my opinions from first hand experience and from being invloved in house for more than 10 years. You would never catch me in one of the San An clubs because the music policy is shite... house music for the beginners. Dave Piss is s*** personified!

Do you only go somewhere if it is regarded 'cool and in' like 1/2 the other people who flock to Playa Den Bossa, a down market German tourist resort?

I go somewhere because I(!) think it's cool... I have had some amazing experiences in bora bora & dc10 and am not surprised they have bcome generally regarded as cool. Geman tourist resort? On my second visit this year we met a load of peops and our group eventually consisted of French, Spanish, English, Italian, Austrian, American... funnily enough, no Germans... not that i have anything against them...

DC10 and Underground? What, because they are supposed to be underground?Interesting to hear your thoughts.

No because of the music policy, the crowd & the atmosphere!!! 8)
