IF THEY CLOSE BORA BORA, I'M NEVER GOING AGAIN!!

For the past few years we have based our entire visits around the place. Without it, I can see little reason for going back. The big clubs take the proverbial and offer little in return. The bars in Ibiza town are a rip off and fairly s*** anyway. The sunset strip is a tourist spot for chavs & westenders. OK u have the beaches, but are they so much better than beaches elsewhere? DC10 & Underground can hold themselves high, but they 2 are sliding down the commercial slope and don't offer enough to justify a visit to the island.

The authorites see Ibiza as a future Cannes/Monaco type playground for the rich & famous and wish to develop this. Closing a hedonistic venue such as Bora Bora could be seen as a step towards the clean up, but in doing so they will be losing one of their best assets. Many upper quartile clubbers from across the globe (their bread & butter!) will be discouraged from visiting.

Don't laugh, but if anyone has seen Paradise beach in Mykonos, it is far far superior a venue for beach parties.

The beach is cleaner, there is much more space, it has a great sound system and the bar is HUGE!!!!!

OK, the clubs aren't as good, but this Bora Bora thing could be extremely favourable for Mykonos.

:)

We nearly went to Mykonos this year. If Bora Bora closes, we're DEFINITELY going next year... Give it another 10/15 years and we'll be discussing the same problems on Mykonos Spotlight!

I wouldn't take 10/15 years.

A couple of good clubs is all it needs.

May i also add that there are very few buildings near Paradise beach so noise pollution wouldn't be a problem.

There are lots of lipstick lesbians there too Nish ;)

No, I meant the time it would take for the club scene to fully develop, for the associated problems to rear themselves and finally, for the authorities to react...

(Mykonos Uncovered on Sky One along the way...)

There are lots of gay people - so what? There are also loads of straight people/couples. There are however absolutely NO dickheads!

Ahh. Sorry. That may have come across V wrong. I was meant to say, im aware of the lipstick lesbians you mentioned as Ive heard Mykanos has a high gay community. Nothing negative or discriminating- which im sure you'll gather going through my old posts. My bad, I worded it wrong.

WOOOT!! :P :D

went to Mykonos last year. That Paradise is pretty similar to Bora-Bora in the set-up ut it'd take a huge leap of faith for the whole Ibizan clubbing community to up-sticks and move accross the med.

:?

This time next year?

No Bora Bora means I'll only be going one week next year. And even then I really have to think hard about what would be fun to do. Maybe just a long weekend? Sa Trinxa, We Love, one night at Pacha, ...? I NEED BB!

Sod it- lets all just go to Brazil instead :P

We were thinking of going to Costa Rica next year, so we could just tag an extra bit on the end for a stop of at Gee's new place :P

If Gee got a place there, I'd go... book a hotel nearby and head down mosy days... & do a bit of sight seeing (little bit) as well... 8)

The sunset strip is a tourist spot for chavs and westenders? What exactly has Bora Bora become? Are you another one of those been to 'Ibiza twice before and know it all crowd', or do you get your opinions from magazines? Do you only go somewhere if it is regarded 'cool and in' like 1/2 the other people who flock to Playa Den Bossa, a down market German tourist resort? DC10 and Underground? What, because they are supposed to be underground?Interesting to hear your thoughts.

I notice people are more othered about this than the change in law that has impacted the Wips terrace? Now that is underground!!
