ID a Tree for me ?

While buzzing around Formentera last week we passed a field full of trees that looked as though they had a central trunk and then lots of other little trunks around the circumference of the branches.

Anyone know what they were?

I'm guessing figs or almond maybe ? . . . but wondering if the multiple 'trunks' were natural or maybe placed there by farmers acting as props ?

They were really cool - almost as cool as the view of the carpark from my ever so interesting office in Swindon . . . . ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz . . . .

Tell you what - I'm SO glad I'm not on Formentera right now . . horrid, scummy place that it is, full of run down slums, fluffy bunnies with crack addictions, chavs seemingly on a sponsored breedathon etc . . . .

Afaid not, when we saw the trees my wife was frantically trying to avoid squashing countless weaving bikes and mopeds and I closed my eyes in fright a couple of seconds later . . . had no time to reach for camera unfortunately :(

Anyway, my description above was so brilliant and vivid that a picture is totally unneccessary :)

It sounds like a Banyan Tree. They were all over India too.

They look like they're older than God's dog.

Isn't there a "Banyan Palace" in Ibiza too?

Yeah, like they weren't all rootballed and exported of the island during The Crisis!
