i believe that, to be gramatically correct, that should read 'Babs and I'
but the above would infer barbie and myself (Russ) which is not correct as the post refers to Barbie and Kang

Yes it is expensive - you were talking £8 for a glass of house wine in standard bars and that's going back about 5/6 years.
It's a strange place, when you land at airport and then travel to Reykjavik it feels like you are on the moon (not that I've ever been on the moon but it feels very moon-like and deserted) but then you get to Reykjavik and it is quite a vibrant and busting city.
The Blue Lagoon is a must-do, we saw Superman there
The nightlife is ok, we went to Damon Alburn's place one night but cos alcohol is sooooo expensive for the average Icelander they don't go out til very late and they don't stay out very long which is no good for me 
If you like fish there are some amazing restaurants but again pricey. I had a good time but I didn't pay (it was a work jolly) and it's not top of my list of places to go back to but it was a really amazing experience if you want something different.

We’re now thinking we might go somewhere else, we’ve booked accommodation only at the moment and the flights are looking very expensive. At prices like that for one glass of wine we’d need some amount of money for a night out wit the amount of wine we drink.

I wouldn't want to pi$$ on your fire and it is an amazing place to go........but wine availability is important when planning a break
