Ibiza Virgin... Playa d'en Bossa or San Antonio?

I would serioudly give PDB a miss as a place to stay. You will regret it.

San Antonio, try the Gran Sol.

Top Hotel for the money, nice part of San An close to some decent bars. Bus station not far away - Its very popular though.

There is a lot going on in pdb but it does not offer value for money. I think it depends on 2 things, your budget and your taste in music/scene.

Yes plenty of them do when they have empty rooms. Try spotlight first then check out last minute booking sites like laterooms, lastminute.com, hotels.com, booking.com etc etc if you get stuck and they don't have any allocation in the area you want for short stay.

How late is late ? Are they that much cheaper? For a solo traveller like me this year its off the scale to stay in pbd and completely unfeasible even for **** hole hotels.

Always is in PDB that time of year. Well - as you know in August it was impossible to get a pre-booked room anywhere last minute at a sensible price (under 150Euros) and I didn't bother, opting to live out of a hire car for 3-4 days instead. Which was interesting 8O  but not that different to most trips in the end where the pre-paid hotel room was rarely seen and sometimes not even checked into. Rest of the year if I pay more than 45Euros a night in San An for a decent shower and laptop charging plug I think I've been sqeuuzed lol. Getting affordable single rooms anywhere decent is obviously much harder than if there are two of you.

Straight answer is usually they are cheaper at the last minute, yes, as long as you are flexible about where you stay and with a bit of luck. From memory about 60% off regular rates at Gran Sol in June for a couple of nights mid-week for example. I don't usually go out in early to mid-September for various reasons but last minute prices typically more than June/July and less than August - both for flights and rooms over recent years.

If you have a car it's no bother to move if you need to over a few days too. Otherwise more of a faff. I rarely book an Ibiza trip at more than 2 days' notice and so it's always last minute or nowt. Forget PDB as a single traveller in most of September too, especially for a sensibly priced room. If you have a car San An is only 1/2 an hour away. Otherwise if you want to go out on the South side of the island every night the taxi companies will likely rob all you save in cheaper accommodation staying in San An, so unless you have a friend with a spare seat it's bum around on buses or cough up - one way or another you'll likely wind up handing the dosh to someone !

Ex-colleague of mine also travelled alone in may/june and she did a lot of chambers/hostels/bnb kind of stuff for accomodation. Most of them where around 25/30€ back then (I suppose 40-50€ now in August maybe?), was pretty descent, checked some for my solo return in june but when my mate joined we just booked a hotel-room for 2.

Cheers kimajy, you have confirmed it for me now.

Well Im pretty much decided now then. I've booked a car for full stay which can be used for Airport transfers and getting out and about in the afternoon early evening. There are lots of places that I wish to go to.
I am going to stay in San An (a little hypocritical of me after a thread I posted last year:oops:) and pre drink in the Kasbah, Budha, Mambo area a few nights. Then bus it to San Raf for Cocoon and a night at underground or Vista???
Another night, bus it to PDB for Sankeys. Maybe a non drinking night as well and use the motor.
I think i have well overdone pdb over the past 10 visits.

Just to add to this Diver. PDB is a pain for single rooms in September price wise. I paid £450 last year for La Noria. Nice enough place and I'll always stay there over San An but it's not cost effective. It's personal preference for PDB having stayed in San An before a few times. Each to their own. I don't drive and have made the two buses journey to San An on a few occasions which to be fair I didn't mind.

Next year I may stay in San An to mix things up but this year I'm likely be going for OK Hotel Bossa or allocation on arrival which could be a terrible idea but I'm kinda prepared for that.
