Ibiza Virgin - Few Questions

Hi all,

New member who has been lurking for a few months now. I'm going to Ibiza June 30th- July 5th with my wife. 1st time for both of us in Ibiza. I have a few questions I was hoping someone could help me out with:

1) We're used to Miami clubs (we're from Miami) and Festivals in the US. We are not fans of VIP but we're also not fans of the mosh pits (think main stage Ultra). How are Ibiza clubs in this regard? We have no need to be next to the DJ. In fact, we usually turn our backs to the DJ, go far away where there's room to dance and dance. How are the clubs in this regard?

2) How expensive is VIP for 2 people if 1 night we wanted to go a bit extra?

3) We both "evolutioned" from being Trance lovers in the early 2000s to Progressive/Electro lovers circa 2010-2011 and have now moved to Tech House. Big fans of Luciano and Vagabundos/Cadenza, Nic Fanciulli, Jooris Voorn, and even a bit of Techno with Carl Cox and Richie Hawtin for example. Which nights do you recommend for Tech outside of Vagabundos, Enter and Carl Cox? Not big fans of the Deep house under 122BPMs of sorts.

Thank that's it. Thanks for the website and the forum!

Hi all,

New member who has been lurking for a few months now. I'm going to Ibiza June 30th- July 5th with my wife. 1st time for both of us in Ibiza. I have a few questions I was hoping someone could help me out with...

Thank that's it. Thanks for the website and the forum!

1) Busiest club nights are Cream & Guetta. Wouldn't say they are particularly mosh-pit-like, but certainly limited space and shoulder-to-shoulder. A lot of parties can get busy like that, but they are the main culprits. If you want to avoid boisterous crowds, from my limited experience, the (Brit) worker's paradise Sankeys certainly had a bit of moshing over Opening weekend.

2) €200 per person is standard, with a minimum of 2 people. So you're looking at €400. That is for Pacha. I also paid similar for Space last year. Think you can get "VIP" at Es Paradis/Eden for about €300 for 2 ppl.

3) Loco Dice's Used + Abused &/or Ants at Ushuaia will probably be a good fit if you're looking for tech house at 125-128bmp ;) judging by their line-ups. And I can't recommend Guy Gerber's Wisdom of the Glove Wednesdays at Pacha enough. Maybe you could combine a VIP experience with a visit to Pacha on a Wednesday?

Thank you for the response.

Few follow ups:
1) Planning on avoiding Cream & Guetta anyway. Will be there for Richie Hawtin's opening party, so I'm expecting it to be abit packed. Hopefully Ushuaia isn't that bad either. We just don't like tit when it gets too packed and people start pushing and to get to the bathroom or bar , it takes many minutes.

2) Thank you.

3) Thank you. Can't see Ants because I leave Friday night, but 100% planning to see Loco Dice. Will consider Guy Gerber's night then if you think that's down my alley.
What about Cocoon & Sven Vath & Ricardo Villablos? Never seen them live but heard great things. And Sankeys with "TEKNOLOGIK"?

4) Additional question: How are the bar queues in Ibiza? Weird question, I know. But someone told me they once went to an opening party and the bar and bathroom queues were 20+ minutes.

Well, it depends on the night, the venue and the location of the specific bar. From my experience the bars at smoking patios (sunset terrace at Space and open terraces at Pacha and Privilege) don't have ques at all.

As above really. Just gotta pick your bar. Worst wait I ever had was Space Opening last year. But generally speaking I think I tend to get served a lot quicker in Ibiza than I do in the UK. Sounds obvious, but patience, a smile and Ps&Qs go a long way to helping the bar tenders remember your face for the right reasons so you may get served a little quicker on the second or third trip to the bar.

friends of mine bought vip @ cream and they tell me that it's a very good option because you can dance @ the first floor

if you are with your wife and this is your first trip to ibiza don't bring a lot of money @ the club... last year lot of people told me that they have been robbed and girlfriend's bag too

especially @ space...4-5 people behind you....one of them push you...another takes your wallet or iphone or sunglasses......the same with girls...usually girl are dancing with bags....they open and taaacccc the wallet disappears

Wow that's crazy! Space is a must for me being an Ibizan Virgin! I guess I got to get clothes with zipper pockets :-)

i am not sure how I would react if 4-5 guys pushed me and took my lunch money :-(

Any tips to not get robbed lol

Don't Worry this is my seventh time in Ibiza, and the atmosphere in all club is amazing. There is not a real queue at bars in ibiza because there many bars in all club so you can always find a bar with few persons. Futhermore, as most of the clubs are huge, you can always find a space to dance, even at Amnesia, Space or Privilege during big parties.
For me best parties are:
Techno: Carl Cox, Enter, Loco dice @ Ushuaia (new)
Tech house: Cocoon (terrace), Elrow (good vibe)
Progressive House: Departure, Cream (terrace)
Trance: A state of trance (amazing), Cream (main room)
Progressive House + Techno: Supermartxe (huge show)/ Varela and friends

Thank you for all the responses.

Last 2 questions I promise:

1) Someone mentioned "Smoking Patios". Are you not allowed to smoke inside clubs in Ibiza?
2) In regards to getting robbed etc, do girls still dress up with nice bags/shoes etc, or avoid nice shoes and bags b/c you'll be targetted?

legally you cannot smoke inside in the clubs no. But you do see people doing it on the sly sometimes.

getting robbed , err people dont give it a second thought really in my experience. Just every day common sense shoud be fine

..er .. Minimarc ... on a large one would you really know if you'd been robbed till the next day

Waving iPhones around / looking like a walking wallet (or leaving money in bags) is just asking for it. Girls - pop your dosh down your bra or pants and guys wear shorts with a zip/button down pocket and you'll most likely hang on to your stuff in clubs with no problems as there are easier targets. My wallet is always clipped to a belt loop with a small chain too. There are easier targets then. Basic stuff.

The worst robbers are those who nick your drinks - honestly, take your eye off them for 2 secs and they're gone. The number of times I've grabbed someone's wrist with an iron first and a threatening glare ... well, at 20 Euros a go they're like notes in a glass !

Hopefully not tempting fate here but the only time I nearly got robbed in Ibiza was falling asleep in the car in Space car park in the morning and leaving the boot unlocked. I caught the woman at it and she didn't get away with anything other then the 5Euros and a banana I gave her out of sympathy with the state she was in for something to eat... clearly had a coke habit and had got into more than a bit of a mess.
