Ibiza - The place with many names! - How do you pronounce it?

I have heard so many ways of saying 'Ibiza'. How do you pronounce it and is there really a correct way to say Ibiza?

In the past month I have heard it pronounced:


Ibb - Eee - Tha

Eye - Bee - Tha

Eee - Bee - Tha

Eee - Bee - Zaa

Eee - Beat - Zaa

Eee - Vee - Zaa

spanish pronunciation would be eee-bee-tha
catalan pronunciation would be ey-vee-ssa
 
Amazes me how many people say it wrong, especially people who not only have lived here years, but speak decent castellano.

I say it different ways all the time :)

I do like the Catalan/Eivissenc version though, Eivissa!
 
My pronunciation varies :lol:

Where I live, people call it EEE BIT SA

One way that drives me crazy: when people say EYE BEEF A
