Ibiza Spotlight X Amnesia need you!

"Cream" on a Thursday in September 2007. I came alone in a rental car. Instead of being directed to the usual parking lot, it was suddenly all smiles, parking attendants raised a barrier and I was permitted to park right in front of the club entrance (the only car to park there). Still don't know which DJ or VIP they confused me with 🤣

"Cream" on my birthday in September 2008. Ferry Corsten played an incredible 3-hour trance set, with every single track perfectly matching my mood. When he finished, people were chanting "Ferry, Ferry!", then booing when the next DJ came on (I think it was Eddie Halliwell).

September 2004. My first time in Ibiza. Hadn't been to any club yet, went up to Dalt Vila at night - and saw an incredibly bright spotlight coming from Amnesia. It changed color now and then. I understand there used to be laser beams too, but that was before my time.

The spotlight from Amnesia in September 2004

In 2009, the spotlight was simply white, with no color changes:

Remember going to Ku and later same night Amnesia high on something, went on the dancefloor (great music) thinking I was the best dancer in the world and that everyone was looking at me. They probably laughed at this stupid guy...
Another time I woke up in the morning not remembering where I've been, to realise that I've got some Amnesia T-shirts on my head.

I can't remember much of my first time in Amnesia 2014 so i'll go with July 2018 - my first experience of Elrow and the nonsense that comes with it. George Privatti was a nice warm up on the terrace, then we moved to the club room for Ilario Alicante who was all night long. Whilst we wished we'd stayed in there longer we moved to the terrace for Nakadia and she blew the shit out of the place (which got some bass face looks from the tech house bros) plus she was followed by Groove Armada so all good. The end of the night we realised there was all this fake money on the floor "Elrow Dollars" so for a laugh decided to collect as much as possible and see what we could buy...? Eventually found the wooden shack selling what i'm guessing was inflatables but alas, they had all gone. I pleaded with them as they were packing away "But I have 120,000 dollars you must have something for me" and the girl said what about this - a sponge, but somebody had taken a bite out of it. We had a deal.

The pills used to be so much smaller, and better!🤔😂

One of my earliest visits that sticks in my head is my first Cocoon - its closing party of 2013. My tastes weren't so refined back then. A year earlier, a friend had tried to convince us to go as we watched the sunset at Café Mambo, but we ended up going to Pacha for some commercial nonsense I wouldn't even dream of entertaining nowadays. But anyway, twelve months later, there I was, giving Cocoon a go. It was like an awakening.

One moment I will never forget was seeing my mate Dean lost in the music and dancing on top of the bar in the Main Room, being actively encouraged by the bar staff - it just wouldn't happen today!

One of the big tracks that summer was Gotham by Ten Walls (this was before he committed career suicide by posting a homophobic rant on social media). I knew that it was in Sven's record bag because it had already been announced as being on his Sound of Season mix, but despite waiting for it, it never came.

Then, as we were leaving (no idea what the time was, but the sun was fully up) and walking out into the car park, he played it, so we went racing back inside.

I never looked back after that experience. I was a Cocoon convert and remain one to this day, as many of you will know. Makes me wonder what would've happened had I gone in 2012? Sorry, Hannah. You were right.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed already. Congrats to @Mr.CC for making us smile the most. The first pair of guestlist spots are yours. Please PM me with your details (full name and contact email address) and chosen date.

We'll be publishing part one later this week and part two will follow later, so there's still time to share your memories, be featured and win further spots. Just because you've already posted, that doesn't exclude you from potentially winning the second pair.

🥳❤️ That’s great news and thanks so much! I’ll PM my details over as I’m due over approx 21st to 29th Set.

May have to see if I can get my partner in crime to get back on it again to complete the circle…and then have to relegate the Mrs to buy a ticket!! 😂

So it was better in the old days. ...and the music was great in Amnesia in the 80's and 90's
Haha the pill thing was in jest to BareBens photo/response but if you were around then, which I think you were….I will say Doves 🕊️ and if you know, you know! 🚀 Regarding the music or time in Amnesia, I wasn’t lucky enough to go around that time but when I did go 2009, I loved it. Like you, we’re oldies now (I think) and I have always tried not to hark back and not be like the previous generations and just go with how it is now….Only complaint these days is for the clubs/venues not to be oversold, have a bit of room to dance and people to be chilled and enjoy themselves !
