I never smoke on the dancefloor cos I can't do 2 things at once so dancing and smoking is a definite no-no for me

think this was mentioned a while back

Like Stephen said "Having a law and enforcing it are two different matters"
(or something like that)

I sincerely appreciate the people who go outside to smoke. I hate having to worry about getting burned on on the back of my head. I'm scared to turn around and get a nice hot red bud in the eye... :(

Nothings worse then some a$$hole pushing his way through a packed dance floor with a lit cigarette...then comes the girlfriend in tow with another lit cigarette at head level.

In Glasgow we have a no public drinking policy
If you are caught by police, they pour any opened bottles/cans out in front of you and confiscate the rest.

Simple enforcement is - take all cigarettes from the offender - forces them to buy new ones - after 2/3 times of that they will soon desist

remember the power of the nightstick

put it this way - would u argue with the Ibicenco Policia if they requested that you hand over your cigs?

i was taking about people being caught smoking against the law in Ibiza - someone posted about how it would be enforced - i offered a suggestion

ok fair enough, im not disagreeing with the stopping smoking principle, i agree with it, but like i said, way too harsh! that would cause trouble. the best way they can cut out smoking is to raise the price of their cigarettes. compared to what we pay, they are ridiculously cheap.

but then that method would affect the people who abide by the law but want to smoke!

:? :D

the whole law has its pitfalls but i would love to see it make a difference

Compared to what we pay, they are rediculously expensive!

Taxing cigs to death only encourages contraband and punishes smokers. The money raised almost never truly goes to health programs as often promised.

i was in ibiza this august and nowhere had changed there smoking policy...even the restaurants....only place i notice changed was the bar in the departure lounge at the aeropuerto 8)
