BRAND EXPANSION FOR IBIZA ROCKS WITH THE LAUNCH OF MALLORCA ROCKS HOTEL IN SUMMER 2010

London, 11 November: It was announced today at the World Travel Market at London’s ExCel that Ibiza Rocks will further expand the brand with the opening of a second destination concept hotel next summer. The 330 room Mallorca Rocks Hotel, situated in Magaluf, will be based on the same successful model as the Ibiza Rocks Hotel, encapsulating a whole lifestyle under one roof, including up to six gigs at the hotel during it’s opening season.

As the unrivalled innovator of Ibiza’s live music scene, Ibiza Rocks has challenged and changed perceptions of Ibiza since launching controversially in 2005. Now an institution on the island and one of Europe’s hottest music events, Ibiza Rocks consistently boasts an A-list live line up which has previously included MGMT, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Vampire Weekend, The Enemy and Dizzee Rascal, plus breakthrough bands and cutting edge DJ’s.

The Ibiza Rocks Hotel opened its rock ‘n’ roll doors in 2008 and quickly became THE biggest youth hotel on the island, offering flexible travel packages and putting guests at the epicentre of the action for the weekly live gigs. Shortlisted for ‘Best Overseas Festival’ at this years’ UK Festival Awards, it’s a double celebration as Ibiza Rocks announce its new arrival.

Magaluf is the biggest youth resort in the Mediterranean and it’s about to get its biggest makeover! The live music line up at the Mallorca Rocks Hotel (formerly Hotel Tropico Magaluf) will be revealed early next year and like the flagship Ibiza Rocks Hotel, guests can expect to see some of the world’s best acts playing live under the stars in the hotel’s courtyard plus quality daytime entertainment throughout the summer. Eventually, the gigs will run weekly and many of the acts booked will perform at both Mallorca Rocks and Ibiza Rocks within 48 hours.

Whilst Ibiza Rocks will retain its role of booking cutting edge DJ’s and breakthrough bands as well as established acts in order to cater for its music savvy crowd, Mallorca Rocks will initially focus more on higher profile festival acts, in the aim of creating a regular, quality live event in Magaluf and rejuvenating the islands music scene. Hotel visitors can also expect the best in daytime entertainment and partnerships with established club brands are expected to be announced shortly.

Andy McKay, Promoter said: “We are an unrivalled youth focused brand, providing great quality accommodation and entertainment at great value. Most of all, we provide something relevant to a new generation of live music loving holidaymakers. Having pioneered the social rejuvenation of Ibiza with Ibiza Rocks, we want to emulate this success in Mallorca and make quality live music much more accessible, giving our target audience better value, flexible travel and ultimately, more choice.”

Further details regarding line up and booking information will be revealed in the coming weeks. Please register your interest at www.ibizarocks.com/mallorcarockshotel

Mallorca Rocks 2010 - The Line Up

Ever since we announced the earth-shattering news that we were heading to Mallorca last year, we've been working away getting things ready for what is sure to be an amazing first year on the Balearics’ biggest island.

So, what can you expect? Here's a rundown of all the gigs announced so far...

June 6 - The Kooks & DJ Zane Lowe

The Brighton lads have been Ibiza Rocks faves right from the get-go and now they're helping us launch our new adventure. They've been working on album number three since autumn last year so Mallorca Rocks will get one of the first tastes of the new tracks. Ibiza Rocks resident since day one Mr Zane Lowe will be there to host and DJ as only he can.

July 7 - Calvin Harris & Example

The Scottish dance floor killer will be ably assisted this year by London rapper Example. That means you're guaranteed big beats and wicked rhymes from two of the best exponents the UK has to offer - you can't argue with that!

July 19 - Special Guests

More information on this will follow shortly, but judging by our line up so far you know what you can expect!

July 26 - Dizzee Rascal

The king of UK Hip Hop loves the Balearic crowds, he even named his Ibiza Rocks set as his favourite of 2009. This July he'll be heading to Mallorca and no doubt he'll be hailing it his gig of year too because we can tell you now, it is going to be wild.

September 6 - Pendulum

Closing out the summer in Magaluf will be Antipodean beat monsters Pendulum who have become something of a mainstay at Ibiza Rocks over the years. You know they’re amazing live, we know they’re amazing live – it’s gonna be a awesome finish to an amazing 2010 in Mallorca.

The kooks launch mallorca rocks

Wow, what a few days the Balearics just had. Mallorca and Ibiza were absolutely rocking from dusk till dawn thanks to our two sell-out shows.

It all kicked off on Sunday in Magaluf when The Kooks, Bombay Bicycle Club and Zane Lowe got the summer long party started, christening our brand spanking new hotel.

The Brighton quartet were on top form, mixing old and new classics including 'She Moves in Her Own Way' and 'Naïve' while our old friend Zane had the huge crowd in raptures thanks to his legendary DJ skills and record box.

Bombay Bicycle Club were on support duties, showing us exactly why they've been getting rave reviews for the last year with an impressive set drawn from their first album 'I Had The Blues But Shook Them Loose'.

The Courteeners Ready For Epic Mallorca Rocks Gig

Manchester's latest prodigal sons, The Courteeners, are bringing their soaring indie anthems to Mallorca Rocks next Monday.

Since emerging in 2006, the four-piece have notched up two top ten albums, a string of chart-denting hits like ‘Not Nineteen Forever' and ‘You Overdid It Doll' and in the process they've amassed a huge and devoted following.

Better still, they're one of the finest live bands on the circuit - already firm Ibiza Rocks favourites, their slot at the Mallorca Rocks Hotel will be no exception.

Ample support on the night will come from Liverpudlian anthemic rockers Sound of Guns, while following his trimpuhant DJ set with Maximo Park at Ibiza Rocks last week, Kissy Sell Out will be providing the beats.

It promises to be quite a night! Check out a taste of what's to come
here.
